MercTech -> Curious about gas masks... (10/12/2015 8:48:51 PM)

I've heard that using gas masks in play is one variation of a fetish. I'm actually curious to hear more specifics from those who find gas masks are part of their kink.

This is probably because I have spent so many hours in one for work it strikes me as just another piece of protective gear you have to tolerate.

Gas masks is a fetish for some. People who are into Latex/rubber tend to enjoy it due to the simple reason that most are made out of rubber.

Other reasons people enjoy it:
Roleplay - similar to any hood or mask it allows the person to be someone else

Sensory deprivation / increased sensory awareness - the gas mask will restrict certain senses and increase others. Sight will be limited. Breathing will be somewhat restricted. Hearing will be decreased. You will be much more aware of every breath you take. You will hear your breathing. Sweat will form inside the mask. Each breath will bring a cool jet of air in. Each exhale will me warm and moist. In a state of heightened sexual arousal these things can be an incredible turn on.

Control - you partners breathing can be easily controlled and played with. From restricted breathing to forced inhalation of various aromas.

I can understand that if you had to wear one at work you might wonder why people enjoy it. But for the people who do enjoy it, it opens the door to different sensations that is rather hard to describe.

I have 3 gas masks and have used them quite a bit over the years. Everyone says it centers them, focuses them. The mild air flow restriction causes them to become more aware of their breathing like yoga, they automatically gain increased physical awareness. It sets the mood and head-space rather quickly... like an instant warm up so to speak.

For some, it can have an isolation aspect as well heightening their senses. For others, having their face covered by a mask gives them a feeling of anonymity, making them less inhibited and they feel more freedom in their actions.

As the top, for me, it helps objectify the person wearing the mask and not seeing their every facial expression makes them slightly less human. It makes them more of a sexy body to play with when their face is covered. And... I think gas masks are really pretty.

My friend's slave tried a mask for the first time. We tied him up face to face with a large breasted girl in a floor to ceiling spider web chain. He buried his face (and mask) in her giant titties while his wife was whipping him from behind. He spaced out so badly, he didn't realize he blocked off his air intake. He was enjoying a healthy dose of hypoxia when I had to intervene and separate them so he could breath.

Afterwards, I asked him why he didn't say or do anything. He said the new experience with gas mask put him so deep in subspace, he just didn't care because it felt so good.

I just got a Gas Mask at a Gun Show. Picked it up from an army surplus guy for Twenty Bucks.
Am thrilled with it and can't wait to use.
Will update...

Be aware that the filter components of many vintage gas masks are likely to contain asbestos which is very old, very flaky and very dangerous. The filter canisters often come with the gas mask as mine did. Just carefully dispose of any old filtration substrate and enjoy the gas mask.

Thanks. That's good feedback. I will look into it and keep it in mind.

You, Sir, have restored my faith in the forums for the day :-)

Any comments or insights about Gas Mask "bells and whistles" such as water filtration bottles, long hoses, and bag attachments?

Military gas masks have canteen fittings but civilian hazmat worker ones don't. The M4 or Canadian C4 are hard to find in larger sizes but you can find surplus medium sizes out the wazoo. If you actually want to use with filters; you are better off getting a commercial gas mask as the filters are more prevalent and cheaper than the military ones. (thousands more people wearing things like the MSA Ultraview)

You can find one on eBay for $100-150 if you shop wisely,

RDD has a good selection of gas masks

https://www.rddusa.com/product-category/gas-mask/

RDD supplies new filters with the gas masks. I usually do not use the filters. Mine camed with a plastic cap that screws into the filter hole. The cap had a small hole in the center. Worked great as a semi-restricted breather.

As mentioned above you can usually find these in Army Surplus stores. Most have new Israeli style for $20.

I like rubber latex on women and corset boots.

I've heard that using gas masks in play is one variation of a fetish…that line makes no sense.

Never wore a gas mask, dust masks yes - but they were not made of latex/rubber.

Lucylastic -> RE: Curious about gas masks... (1/29/2016 11:37:41 AM)

my gas mark is heavy rubber, and it goes with every latex outfit, the only difference is I dont shine mine up like I do my other rubber. The smell is intoxicating, its a form of "bondage" as is being encased in latex. and of course there is the "restriction" of lots of air. being in a cocoon, or sensory deprivation.
just my thoughts

DocStrange -> RE: Curious about gas masks... (1/29/2016 2:06:27 PM)

mmmm heavy rubber :)

I have 2 different kinds of gas masks one has a full front visor the other is just the eyes. the military mask can easily block off the vision with the eye covers. so can control the vision. the full front visor can be used to let them see all in front of them and then change the toy behind them to a different one one. both make it easy to control the head with the straps. both block most all smells.
