I think a post like this was done years ago, but people come and go. Would be neat to know how long many of the posters have been coming to Collarspace, Collarme, Collarchat. So many of the posters from way back when haven't been around for years. I do miss some of the ones who had great ideas to share.

I looked back and found that I joined August 18, 2004.

Nearly ten years, it will be ten in january, and as we are in the "ber" months its close enough.

To find my exact join date I did a search at the top of the page for posts written by author, which was my nick. Then I clicked on my name when the list of posts came up and it told me the exact join date.

It should be something like February of 2007. Pet got me to sign onto the joint, originally. I'm kind of the newbie of the old timers because most of the long term folks out date me by a couple of years.

I switched this thing to a couples profile (same name) ONCE for about five days. Oh my gosh! The trash I received in email was pitiful and disgusting. (Before the spam filter.) I honestly feel bad for couples and female submissives for some of the stuff they receive.

I think our email group owner left at Xmas of 2005 and I joined here a few weeks later after Michael pointed out the forums to me and thought I'd like them.

edited: Oh, doh. My join date is right there.. Jan 12, 2006. lol

edit #2: I read the forums for a few weeks before I actually joined (except the Gorean forums which non-members could not access at that time) and, of course, read the TOS from start to finish.

I'm a good girl that way and I don't sign ANYTHING that I don't read first. :)

I dont.....
At the time, the gorean board was interesting to me...some good posters. I only posted there once, and that was in response to a recipe. But I read a lot.

I would find that highly unlikely. You've written some damn good things over the years. It's not just your command of the English language, either. Some of the changes in you across time are admirable.

Ha! "Don't go to the Gorean board" back then is relative to the "Don't go to the Political Dungeon" now. People used to be scared as sh^t of the Goreans. Everybody thought they would chew you up and spit you out if you went in there. For some, it just took some time to win them over. I don't think folks of different philosophies can get further apart than Gorean folks and Leather folks but it does lead to some interesting conversations.

That's interesting to me you'd feel that way, because at MsC (the Leather con I recently attended on the East coast that allowed me to meet LadyPact), while sitting in class listening to the presenters, I kept thinking: What a Gorean point of view.

I tend to think that way sometimes, too. Then, the trouble starts...

I have always enjoyed reading the discussions on how our two subcultures use the same word and we end up meaning two completely different things. The word sounds the same and we each process it in our own different ways. The interpretations are fascinating.

ETA:

Ironically, I've spent most of my forum time--of which there's been far too much!--in Casual Banter and P&R rather than the BDSM section. I can only recall one BDSM thread I started, which was about whether we romanticize slavery. Oh wait, there was also one seeking recommendations for buying rope.
