Status: offline 		Don't know why this is conversation but...what you describe is called a "clean catch" sample. You will see signs in the bathroom of most OB/GYN (at least every one I have been to-I live in the MD/DC area). It is not something I think people do on a normal basis, but yes, when you are doing a urine test, they will give you an anti-bacterial wipe and the specimen container and tell you the steps. Whoever said it was to prevent bacteria from the skin/outer area getting in and causing a false positive was correct.

Clean catch urine sample

A clean catch is a method of collecting a urine sample to be tested. The clean-catch urine method is used to prevent germs from the penis or vagina from getting into a urine sample.

How the Test is Performed
If possible, collect the sample when urine has been in your bladder for 2 to 3 hours.

You will use a special kit to collect the urine. It will most likely have a cup with a lid and wipes.

Wash your hands with soap and warm water.

GIRLS AND WOMEN

Girls and women need to wash the area between the vagina "lips" (labia). You may be given a special clean-catch kit that contains sterile wipes.

Sit on the toilet with your legs spread apart. Use two fingers to spread open your labia.
Use the first wipe to clean the inner folds of the labia. Wipe from the front to the back.
Use a second wipe to clean over the opening where urine comes out (urethra), just above the opening of the vagina.
To collect the urine sample:

Keeping your labia spread open, urinate a small amount into the toilet bowl, then stop the flow of urine.
Hold the urine cup a few inches from the urethra and urinate until the cup is about half full.
You may finish urinating into the toilet bowl.

Status: offline 		the way the girls should be taught to urinate is to spread their knees wide enough to separate the outer labia and lean forward. this is to reduce the urine retained between the labia majora and minora. this reduces the incidents of uri and tissue degradation that would allow opportunist infections. actually holding the labia spread is not recommended except for doing a clean catch sample

Well, you have to admit, women *do* pee in a completely stupid way. To me it's like using a hosepipe to water the garden versus putting a barrel full of water in the middle of the garden then chucking a grenade at it.

As far as I'm concerned, magic happens in the bathroom and women emerge transformed. I don't care about the process, I don't want to know about the process, the entire thing should always be and always shall remain a mystery.

To get a sterile sample yes, somebody has explained the whole procedure and it's not just holding your lower lips apart, as for ALL women, well quite a lot of women told you they don't pee that way, so are you going to trust them or random internet dude?

Btw how on earth do you get into a conversation with a complete stranger on the internet about how to pee and if you pee right or wrong. OK, we all have bodily functions and stuff, no big deal, but I can't recall ever having discussed peeing and how I do it with strangers, the closest I have come to that is moaning that I really really need a bathroom quick while being stuck in a car (usually hopping up and down and squealing).

I would question the guy's ability as a pee instructor, watching porn movies is not like watching educational programs.

On 2nd thoughts, it might be one of the guys doing random studies on CS, I hear it's all the rage now...
