Yeah, that doesnt mean anything, its a clip from something with no provenance, no credibility, no causation.

Its rather like showing a picture of the hindenburg before Lakehurst and saying this is why Pearl Harbor.

well the point one person was trying to make was gun control works and it is shown to have the opposite of the intended results. So all anyone can conclude from that is that you disagree with the gubblemint reports.

Victims of violent crime statistics
Victims of violent crimes from 1996 to 2007 (number)
Note: Number of victims presented here represents revised estimates on numbers published in earlier editions of Australian crime: facts & figures

Year Homicide ...Assault ...Sexual assault ..Robbery ...Kidnapping
1996....354.....114,156......14,542........16,372........478
1997.....364.......124,500.......14,353.........21,305.........564
1998.....334.......130,903.......14,689.........23,801.........707

2007....282.....176,427......19,781........17,988........730

http://www.aic.gov.au/statistics/violent%20crime/victims.html

Assaults continue to represent the majority of recorded violent crimes.
The overall trend since 1996 has been upward, with an increase of 55 percent between 1996 and 2007.

So your trade off is 63 justifiable homicides in exchange for 70,000 violent crimes and the plethora of associated psychological issues and therapy the victims will suffer as a result of the violent crimes. How does that help us to all get along and sit around the camp fire and singing kum by ah? Seems counter productive and more like an attack on victims and potential victims by removing their ability to defend themselves.

That's still shit-tons better than almost 352 million gun deaths alone (and almost 100 million homicides) in the US in 2013!!

I would trade 63 homicides against 100 million (in a comparable-sized country) any day of the week.
Even 70,000 general violent crimes are waaay below the gun deaths in the US by a fucking long margin.

Less guns, less gun related crime. More guns, more gun related crime.

Another fan of idiotic tautologies (yeah it's a big word, look it up).

Maybe it has something to do with how much a state pays to educate their kids to be 'good citizens' of the nation:

Firstly, the map you posted doesn't show per-student investment in education. The hidden clue to this remarkable fact can be found in the words, "percent of low income students." Secondly, there is precious little correlation between per student investment and outcome. See here for a state by state analysis from the Center for American Progress (a politically progressive public policy tank).

Have a nice day.

Check the numbers K.

10.5 gun deaths per 100,000 population.
Roughly 335 million people in the US.
Do the maths.

Um yeah, I don't think K needs to "do the math", if there were 352 million homicides in the US, with a population of 335 million, we'd all be dead dumbass.

There is an exercise left to the reader, and you aint got the math for it.

352,000,000/100,000 = X hint: answer is 352.

then you work that out times 10.5.

335 million minus 352 million you do the math

You cant do the maths. He is correct, and you are incorrect, he never said there were 352 million homicides in the US.

Go back and look at it again. He said that there were 352 million gun deaths a year and that 100 million are murders.

that is still the aftermath of tweaks post, where tweak seems to be claiming that aussie gun homicides decreased after the 1997 gun control legislation, that table is from the down under gub site, it didnt, instead they and violent crime increased.

I also posted several other charts that show the results of increased gun control in the UK, aussieville and the US and a few that is worldwide:

Good grief...

352,000,000 ÷ 100,000 = 3,520

3,520 x 10.5 = 36,960

The CDC reports 33,636 firearms deaths (all causes) in a population of ~316 million for 2013, but let's not quibble.

If there had been ~352 million gun deaths in 2013, everyone in the entire country would have been dead by the end of the year, and accounting for the remaining ~36 million deaths would require many of them to have been killed more than once, presumably after being resuscitated by aliens so they could be killed again by rampaging freedomdwarves.

Apparently there were more untracked illegals in the country. Maybe almost 350 million of them were killed and no one paid attention.
