Kirata -> Trident II D5 Missile Launch (11/10/2015 5:10:14 AM)

The spectacular show in the skies off California that has caused a flood of social-media posts and people speculating about UFOs was provided courtesy of a U.S. Navy test of the submarine-launched Trident II D5 missile. The powers that be don't seem to have the display of uploaded images fixed, so I can't offer a resized version. But while the linked photo is a bit big, it's just too awesome to pass up.

They *say* it's Trident. But do we know for certain?

It's not certain, but 4 out of 5 dentists prefer sugarless gum.

That's a far clearer picture than I saw on the news. Thanks for posting it.

Wow that is much better than the view I had. I caught the tail end when it was ending. It was very bright then, I could only imagine what it must have looked like before then.

Remember the Norwegian spiral? That was claimed to have been a missile that spun out of control.

Nobody believed it at the time, but comparing the two images....

Sounds plausible but then it does not inspire one's confidence, or it was Norwegian and some software failed, or some mechanism failed or was defective, or.....or.....or ?

FR

I won't be happy till I hear from Sculder and Mulley, that's all I'm saying.

It's so beautiful! But I didn't know missiles move so slow. And if it's an alien aircraft, will we ever be told?

It looks like a set from one of those Hollywood sci fi movies.

Missokyst -> RE: Trident II D5 Missile Launch (11/11/2015 8:01:43 AM)

When I saw it it was whizzing by. It was not slow, but I was at a fetish flea market and did not see the full event. I only caught it as it was burning up over the ocean on my ride back on the freeway. No question it was large, but I saw nothing like in that picture. Pretty sure that image is photo-shopped.
