Maybe instead of trolls, we should call them turduckens.

After all, they're turkeys that quack like ducks but are chicken at heart.

I haven't, actually! Sounds intriguing.
Well, you kind of have to like duck to appreciate it.

How are you about game birds?

Rather than call them Turduckens ( which is a little clumsy), call them after an English bird that has a loud shrill voice and makes a lot of fuss and feathers about very little. Peon may know of the bird I mean if he lives near a stream or lake. It's called a 'Peewit' , which I find rather apt

I was out with a bird one time and she said "I'm game" ......................so I shot her.

I never was able to develop a love for duck, though my ex hunted and fixed it a lot. I loved everything else he brought home, but when it came to duck there was only one dish he ever made that I could eat it. But I would eat that until I got sick, lol.

About the duck? No thanks necessary, I just call 'em like I see 'em.

Can I then call you like I "see you" think you are.

Sock1m, it'll be a cold day in hell before anyone here gives a shit what you think.

Funny. I'm not much of a hunter, but I have been working on my bird calls;

I find: "Grab your coat, luv. You've pulled." works a lot better than: "Oi, wench! Wanna go 'halves' on a bastard?!?!"

MP doesn't care for it. Being the consummate city boy, he doesn't have much of a taste for anything game. Me? I grew up on darn near anything you could hunt or fish from a stream.

When we moved to Alaska, one of his co-workers offered him some elk to bring home. He turned the offer down because he said he didn't know if he'd like it. On the other hand, I was like 'wtf is wrong with you'?

Guess what one of our going away presents was when it was time to leave? Elk jerky.

I found duck to be greasy tasting, and a bit unpleasant. Then again it could have just been the cook

I have to admit the duck was a big improvement over dove. Unpleasant to say the least.

I'm not that fond of game. Too often though, it's the result of a bad shot. A wounded deer that was tracked for three days will be so full of adrenaline that you can't do anything with the meat except grind it up for chili.

A clean shot that drops immediately and is a younger doe won't be gamy at all.

But duck is one of those things like geese and turkey, a farm raised one is just more tender.
Since MrP is also from Long Island, I expect he's used to a Long Island duckling, incredibly tender and delicious.

True. It's a combination of both, I think. The shot and their actual diet. Age seems to be a factor for birds, too. All of them are just better when younger.

Bear is something that is very dependent on the cook. It's all about the preparation.
