LOL I am afraid to walk on the sidewalk in Paris and Rome. LOL They will run over you with a car there for being a pedestrian.

You sure you have been there? Never once happened and I am there a lot, especially since they have the trottoirs in Paris, you know those little raised stones near the sidewalk which would break the speed dramatically. And I never worry about a loon with a gun there, the only thing to worry about in France or Italy is the steady blowing of the car horns, while cab rides in Paris and Rome can be exciting, in NYC they can be downright scary. Several times that I had the pleasure to be in a very herbal smelling cab with a driver that was a little bit errr overly refreshed, twice I threw the faire at them and jumped out at a red traffic light, I rather have blisters on my feet than be in a car accident. I'm a wuss like that.

I agree with Ken about the Rome part, though I wouldn't know about France.

We worried about being shot at and blown up in Germany but I haven't been to any of them since the 70's and early 80's. I hung mostly in non-tourist residential areas. lol I don't make a good tourist. LOL I prefered being around the real life of the people as the tourist and business areas. LOL I had inlaws in Rome and all around Tuscony Italy and Just visited Paris once with some French Soldiers from Berlin (I was stationed in both Berlin and Frankfurt Am Main Germany). I loved the local motorcycle gang in Frankfurt. LOL They rode mopeds and played chess with me at the local pub. lol I was even allowed to sit at the reserved table - an honor, especially for an American.

DS I think it is significant because people have been screaming for Congress to do something. This is something,.

Strictly speaking, I daresay the people are screaming at Congress to do something useful. Obama-freaking hardly counts as 'useful' for normal people.
