Remember all the hype about encryption and how only terrorists, pedophiles, and other criminals use it? How encryption is thwarting the government's attempts to Keep Us Safe?

Yet news emerging from Paris — as well as evidence from a Belgian ISIS raid in January — suggests that the ISIS terror networks involved were communicating in the clear, and that the data on their smartphones was not encrypted.

This is interesting, so a chinese got executed by IS, the question is, what is China gonna do about it? Will they join Russia in bombing IS in Syria? I think we also gotta get used to the new name Daesh, as it is said to piss off ISIS using that term to refer to them.

I wonder if for once, China would join in global terrorism fight. They are after all the next Super Power, time to flex some muscle.

It might be a great way for China to deal with its excess males. Win-win!

What is the chinese airforce flying as their frontline bombers and fighters these days ? By the gods, if they go in too, the allies are gonna have to have a stack somewhere over Finland to wait their turn to bomb.

It is a mess and a human tragedy... Imagine the cost to those countries to maintain these camps... There are just no easy answers.

Myself... getting into more trouble...believe the only answer is to force Muslim nations in the region to raise an army and with the support of Europe... the US...and Russia..defeat radicalism in the Middle East and restore functioning governments in the region. Then repatriate the refugees.

Butch

What is it with this repeated simplistic bullshit.......

The Middle east is in turmoil, Sunni versus Shia. The Gulf States and the Saudis will do nothing to help the Shia, despite your fantasy notion that they will. Infact they seem to be fighting the Houthi in Yemen, who the west have labelled as AQ despite AQ being a Sunni organisation. The Russians are just beinng Russian and backing thier man Assad. The turks have decided to "join the fight against IS" but are only attacking the Kurds.

As I said before, and you ignored, the US have just done a major arms deal with the Saudis, you wont do fuck all to jeopardise that, no matter which party leads congress.

One question that hasn't been asked thus far in this thread is where does IS get its supplies from? We know it exports oil through Turkey and obtains funds to keep its war machine operating. The only feasible supply line for IS is through Turkey and its porous borders with Syria.

This piece in the UK Guardian is essential reading:
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/nov/18/turkey-cut-islamic-state-supply-lines-erdogan-isis

Cutting IS's supply lines would starve it of the war materials it desperately needs to maintain its belligerence, and completely encircle IS. IOW it would spell doom for IS and its collapse would only be a matter of time. Turkey is a nominal Western ally and NATO member. Turkey's efforts have been directed at destroying Kurdish military and political strength, and there are dark rumours of Turkish complicity in IS's savage suicide attacks against pro-Kurdish political rallies which resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths.

Why aren't IS's supply lines through Turkey being cut?

Have you ever felt that it may be YOU that is reading the wrong literature ?

Chuchill was pretty clear about his motives and methods in his little tome. Monty made it crystal clear that romel was a one trick pony. Lidell hart points out that the angolo/american alliance never fought a land battle larger than corps level while the russians engaged army groups.
Do you have an issue with those authors or are they just military fiction?

YOU that may have listened to the wrong propaganda ? Of course not. you are NEVER wrong.

Until you produce something stronger than opinion to refute the points I have made your opinions will remain unsubstantiated opinions.

As to your book, I think I would prefer to read the local telephone directory...........I stopped reading war-fiction when I left primary school

Then perhaps the phone book is the highest level of your comprehension.

..............the criticism is not uncritical it's just that you like to criticise.

Failure to support your opinions is what constitutes uncritical criticism.

oh, and sparrows don't target anything. They just spread their shit around wholesale and make a lot of noise while they do it. Probably in the hope they will be seen as big and important. It doesn't work with them either.

Your inability to actually find error in in the historical record would seem to verify that spreading shit and making noies about your importance certainly does not work for you.

A classic case here of the blind leading the blind. I wonder if you two will stop your Islamophobic love in long enough to read the fucking news.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-34131911

I listen to the news (usually the BBC news channel) all day every day and all night.
And your link is all about asylum claims - not those approaching the EU borders.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Politesub53
Are you both suggesting the 20 million migrants figure is actually true ?

That's what the BBC news channel announced just after I sent my original post.
Hence the last-minute edit.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Politesub53
Are you both suggesting all the migrants into the EU are Muslims, as you maths seem to be suggesting exactly that.

I never claimed any such thing.
That would be you reading something into my posts that aren't there.
But, it is obvious to all that monitor the news media that the majority of them certainly are of Islamic faith (not necessarily Muslim).

quote:

ORIGINAL: Politesub53
Are you both suggesting that all Muslim men of fighting age are terrorists.

Cite please. Show me where I said or implied that.

What I have said is that there are more than enough of them to create a formidable army to defend their own country instead of expecting the rest of the world to do their fighting for them.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Politesub53
Are you both suggesting after 4 years of war that there are no moderate Muslims fighting either IS or Assad.

I didn't say that but it seems to be pretty much the picture.
The moderates are free with their empty words but I see no real action taking place.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Politesub53
Are you both just spouting bullshit, yet again.
Do either of you have a fucking clue ?

Perhaps you should keep up with the news and look at the broader picture instead of local gossip.

Yep. I caught that piece last night: there's a big question to be answered there.

One possible answer can be found in a very interesting analysis of the various actors' goals and why it suits most of the actors' interests for IS to remain more or less as it is today, and why none of the them (with the exception of the French) really want IS out of the way:

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/17/opinion/the-attacks-in-paris-reveal-the-strategic-limits-of-isis.html

The depressing conclusion is that no one capable of destroying IS is going to destroy them, for reasons of short term expediency. If this perspective is valid, then I fear we and the poor Syrians and Iraqis unfortunate enough to be ruled by IS thugs are going to have to put up with them for a lot longer.

According to this view, the best hope for IS's demise in the short term is a split or internal divisions causing it to collapse (which is not out of the question. Movements with trajectories like IS tend to collapse internally after they cease expanding, or reach the limits of their potential expansion.) So the picture is not 100% pessimistic, but very depressing nonetheless.

What you are seeing is the reaction of cretins who are unfamiliar with the u.s. constitution. All legal residents of the usa are free to travel and live where they choose. All legal residents of the usa are entitled to all the services of the state in which they reside.

Among others both MA and NJ have said they won't accept them.
Both true bations of conservative thought.

Last time I checked the constitution applies equally to conservatives and liberals.

Syria has a population of about 11 million.

Well, this is interesting controversy, because I mean, how will they stop the Syrians from entering their state? Once they are on American soil, it would be interesting how they hope to achieve keeping the refugees out of their land.

Obama must be so frustrated with this, since his their biggest sympathizer and defender at the moment.

I just find it difficult to have sympathy for anybody supporting the religion that caused all these problems in the first place.

If they supported that religion, they can lie in the bed they made. You can't cherry pick the good stuffs and the bad stuffs. And cry about the bad stuffs that originated from your holy text.

Islamic faith is a generic umbrella term just like the term christian.

Just as Protestant, Catholic, 7th-Day Aventists etc are all Christian; Muslim, Sunni, Shea, Sufi and others fall under the Islamic umbrella.

I was making the distinction between specifically "Muslim" that Polite mentioned and my post that refers to Islamics (general term) for those following any branch of Islam.

[ETA: Syria had almost 23 million population in 2013, not 11 million.
As of 1 January 2015, the population of Syria was estimated to be 23 018 387 people.

Our troubles are simply multiplying since we will be forced into a beef with our NATO ally Turkey. Kurds will have to have autonomy, that puts the fight in Iran, Iraq, and Turkey to deal with Syria. This is straight out of Iraq and the ineptitude and cowardice of the nutsuckers.
