Greta... I will join you and be labeled a racist... it seems the truth is not politically correct on these boards..will the hell with them.

I cannot understand why so many people on these boards continue to defend…and yes they are defending a religion that;

Breeds terrorists like no other religion today
In many parts of the world crushes the human rights of its women
Condemns to death any Muslim that denies the existence of God or the authority of Muhammad or decides to worship another religion.
Stones, beheads, mutilates in their justice system
Persecutes homosexuals
Sexually mutilates its young women
Honor killings
Forced marriages
The murder and mutilation of young girls attempting to get an education.
Beat their women who dress incorrectly
Punish rape victims
Rape of children as young as 7 in marriage.
Stoning of illegitimate children
Force non-Muslims to pay tribute
Deny non-Muslims the right to participate in their goverment

I could go on and on… Now of course the above are not practiced by all Muslims but some if not all of the above are practiced in Pakistan…Afghanistan…Saudi Arabia… Iraq… Syria.. and many more Muslim majority nations

Otherwise a far cry from a tiny minority… The vast majority of Islam practices one or more of the above to one degree or another.

Islam is a curse on this earth and needs to be changed and brought into the 21st century… I would hope by education but if not then they will eventually make us do it by force just to protect our societies and rights.

Butch

I have no idea of the origin your belief that IS adherents and followers account for anything more than a "tiny minority" of Muslims. It cannot be based on facts. Let's do the maths:

There are approx 1,500,000,000 Muslims in the world. Most estimates of the membership of IS and other like organisations at less than 50,000. I have never seen an estimate greater than 50,000. Granting a very generous ratio of 100 followers for each active member, one arrives at a total of 5,000,000 Muslims who are either IS members or sympathisers or the like.

That equates to approx. 1 IS member/sympathiser for every 300 Muslims in the world today - 0.33% in percentage terms. By any standard that is a "tiny minority".

In fact, the numbers of Muslims actively fighting IS and the like far exceeds the numbers of IS's fighters.*

I don't have any desire brief or intention of "defending" Islam, or any organised religion. FWIW, my opinion of organised religion is far from complimentary, and as organised religions go, Islam is pretty low on the list IMHO. The problem is not a religious or theological one, it is a social and political problem. I believe that IS needs to be destroyed and share that view with most Muslims in today's world. I insist that the starting point for a discussion of how to destroy IS must be factual and reflect the reality of situation in the ME today. Otherwise it's a waste of time.

* Add together the Syrian and Iraqi armies, the Iraqi Shia militias (which are hundreds of thousands strong), the non-IS Syrian opposition, the Kurds, Hezbollah and so on ....... one will arrive at a total many times greater than the estimated 50,000 active Islamists.

It's only been 2 weeks since the attack in Paris, France.
130 killed, hundreds more injured and it's not front and center news any more.
What sad times we live in.
It is the best of times and the worst of times.
It is still front and center news in France.
France had a big memorial to honor and remember the Paris terror victims yesterday 11/27/2015.
May the victims RIP.

We forget these things far too fast.

Its certainly still on most peoples lips here in the UK. We watched the entire memorial service yesterday and François Hollande's words were wonderfully translated and touched us all.

Lets also remember the many innocents who are being murdered in Syria every single day because just like those who died in France, these people also laughed, smiled, loved, wept and lived. Just like those who perished in France, these people have mothers who lost a child, a child who has lost a mother, a sister who has lost a brother and a friend who lost a friend.
