There are two Kurdish areas in Syria adjoining Turkey. One also adjoins Iraq which you know about. The other is directly north of Aleppo along the border with Turkey. They are shown clearly on this map:

I didn't say that Turkey and IS share an ideology. I said that having IS where it is today suits Turkish interests, the primary Turkish interest being the prevention of a Kurdish State. This is why Ankara chose to attack the Kurds and ignore IS when it claimed to be taking action against "terrorism". If Turkey was serious about taking action against IS it would close its border with Turkey to prevent arms smuggling, and the flow of new recruits to IS and cease buying oil from IS.
