ORIGINAL: KenDckey http://www.nationalreview.com/article/427713/underground-brown-university Apparently at brown university non conformist discussion and debate had to go underground. Freedom of speech doesn't mean that you can express youself and your beliefs unless you hide. I don't think it matters what one's opinion is, it has a right to be aired and debated. Why does everyone go on about freedom of speech and wave the bloody flag? There is nothing that guarentees freedom of speech in America. There is only the first amendment which says congress shall make no law abridging it. What individuals do, is left up to individuals, what groups do is left up to groups. But what honest consideration do we owe to the imbecile who slobbers inanities? We do not owe hearing a cretin. This comes down, once again, to any university that takes state money. As long as they are taking money from taxpayers...some liberal, some conservative...they owe a place for an invited speaker to be heard. If you, as a student, do not like a speaker's point of view, don't go. If you, as a student, don't like another student's point of view, walk away and don't listen. But don't pull the namby-pamby, daycare bullshit of "need a safe space", "need a trigger-warning".
