Hi,

I have a question after observing behavior of submissives and switches. I see submissive varying a lot in their preference of BDSM. Few are into pain, they never admit that they like submission, few are into submission they get really pannicky when they are canned or flogged. Similarly few are into humiliation and degradation. Pain and bondage does not necessarily excite them.

However, I have observed that switches are almost always into pain. What do others think?

and your observation on subs preference is also welcome :-)

Namaste!

Your observations relate to play, not to relationships. I'd suggest calling these people bottoms, not submissives.

Are your observations based entirely on female bottoms? And is this online or face to face?

Well, yeah....getting shoved into a glass jar, placed in boiling water, then getting sealed in is a scary thing.[;)]

It's apparent that your observations have been limited and you are trying to apply actions to catigory labels which A.) are missing B.) do not have exact defined perimeters to begin with.

it seems you are looking at the new or near new subs I know many that like pain and humiliation I love pain but I don't get humiliated I love to serve and do personal service

Terminology & labels - to me are interchangeable. No secret there, and nothing is absolute, let alone those two words without me going into mindsets and moments in time and the huwman psyche – all are different, although there can be commonalities in desires and wantoness.

Some people like the idea of it, the fantasy, the hubris. And that is allowed. It does not make them less or more Top/bottom D/s etc.

Pain can come in many forms; no cuddles, no muffins,no call, a light touching with a cane (or knobkerrie) where the body and mind and soul ache – not for a thrashing – but for caressing on the brink of etenirty.

Other extremity is for the few people who have actually stayed the night in my cat ridden hovel knew before hand I sleep poorly and always fall asleep to documentaries regarding the universe sometimes ancient aliens….there are lines I will not concede…analogy in there.

Because I have no wish, nor desire, to thrash something into next week does not make me any less of a M/T/D. An argument can be made for all of my kind it makes us much more than a poor/bad stereotypical label.

But if you are talking about misleading profiles, or conversations, full of malarkey and shag all truth. They are designed to mislead and I have no time for any of that.

But in moments of time minds can change their minds about what they desire.

I can take just about anything, but I think many would call me a switch. Submissive is a state I like to be made to be in. Its definitely not one of of my stronger personality traits.

i am not certain how you arrived at your assessment that submissivies are less likely than switches to be into pain. i can only speak for myself an say pain does motivate me as a submissive. i also find humiliation is effective for control.

Well, you can start with the fact that the OP is confusing D/s with BDSM.

BDSM is Bondage, Discipline, Sado-Masochism - it's kinky sex. You can engage in BDSM and never engage D/s. I know several masochistic bottoms that have no interest in being submissive.

D/s is a power dynamic. You can engage in D/s and never engage in BDSM. I know quite a few relationships that are only about the power dynamic.

He's equating being submissive with being a masochist, which is apples and oranges. While they're both in the produce department, they're not the same thing.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Pain appetite for Switch (12/4/2015 3:58:56 PM)

I define switching as an activity, not an orientation, so I'm not surprised to find a larger group of people identifying as a switch being into sadomasochistic activities as opposed to those who identify per their orientation; i.e. Submissives/slaves (which I find to be more relationship orientated.) That's not to say switches aren't looking for relationships.
