Mavis -> RE: being owned by more than one master (7/19/2006 12:26:30 PM)

the serving two Masters warning is often cited as the recipe for disaster, but honestly, it's not a bad deal! Serving two is no better and no worse than having two parents. A united front, common goals, being proactive in supporting the other "parent" are all things common to humans. Even if the two have different behavioral rules and expectations, "kids" live with that a lot too. Citing how the rules are different at Grandmas house than at home or school.. humans are pretty adept at finding the baseline in many relationships at once. The worse problem i have is when i have One pissed, well to bet within 6 hours, i have Two pissed. They are both reacting to something in my mood or behavior, so when i'm in need of correction, it's often because i've offended Both with the same actions. But when everything is clicking, it's clicking double-time, and gee, how satisfying it is no beam and bask in all that approval. lol.
