ORIGINAL: Tkman117 Yeah because helping the poor gain access to healthcare is exactly what Christ advocated the opposite of. [:D] You want to show me the passage in the Bible where Jesus advocates working your butt off to not only pay for your health insurance (or be fined by Caesar and that's o.K. too) but to help pay for insurance for those who can't afford even the most basic plan? The fact that he healed for free, without checking if the guy had health insurance or could pay him? And he said to give Caesar what is Caesar's... An atheist shouldn't have to tell you that... An atheist didn't have to tell me that because your answer has nothing to do with what I asked. I know where the passages concerning Jesus' healing of others took place. But I didn't ask about those passages...I asked about those passages where Jesus advocates working your butt off so you can not only pay for your insurance but also the health insurance for NOT just the truly poor and needy but those unwilling to work themselves. Apparently, an atheist can't find those passages. There's also no passage saying you have the right to use a machine powered by magical energy you can't see, so get off the damn computer you heathen [:D] Jokes aside, you really don't understand human beings if you think that the people who won't work are in the majority. They're in a minority so small it makes most minority groups world wide look like a majority. for every one person abusing welfare there are a hundred who are using it because they're desperate. You have no right to deny people decent healthcare just because a small portion of the population might not contribute as much, how does that play into Jesus's teachings of compassion and understanding? Honestly these mental gymnastics you cons do is ridiculous. And the mental gymnastics some of you live use to try to work your crap is amazing. We hear some of you refer to the man in the sky, the sky wizard, the invisible man because you don't believe in him but you profess to know just the right way to interpret his son's teachings and actions...the son of a being that some of you don't believe in. I know what Jesus taught about compassion. I also know what he said about the poor...they will always be among you. But some of you like to pick and choose and cobble together his teachings so that they fit your agenda. I gave Lady Constance the chance, I'll give the same to you: instead of preaching to me about Jesus, how about you find the passages requested?
