http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/11/politics/ben-carson-donald-trump-leave-republican-party-threat/index.html

Ben Carson on Friday took a page from Donald Trump's playbook by threatening to depart the Republican Party.

Ahead of Tuesday's GOP presidential debate, the retired neurosurgeon slammed the party after reports emerged that Republican insiders were discussing the possibility of deal-making to decide the eventual nominee at the Republican National Convention.

"If the leaders of the Republican Party want to destroy the party, they should continue to hold meetings like the one described in the Washington Post this morning," Carson said in a statement. "If this was the beginning of a plan to subvert the will of the voters and replace it with the will of the political elite, I assure you Donald Trump will not be the only one leaving the party."

It's the first time Carson has suggested the possibility of bucking the GOP -- though he has previously stood with Trump in pressuring the party to meet demands, including on debate structure.

Carson was responding to accounts that surfaced Thursday, first reported by The Washington Post, that Republican Party officials at a monthly dinner meeting this week discussed plans for a brokered convention, which would be triggered if no candidate secures enough delegates to win the nomination outright. Then delegates could be given up to support a consensus nominee.

Yes, please leave Mr. Carson. Form your own party and run for the White House!

Not only will it allow Mrs. Clinton to have an easier time in the general election, but an easier time for Democrats to gain seats in Congress!

It should be no surprise to anyone there is deal making for candidates as well as for the nomination and even the president, the electoral college is made of the same party hacks that are working behind the scenes now.

An artifact of slavery.

Hopefully he can take the time he needs to fix his blown headpipe, cuz it has a massive leak.

The sooner these loons leave the GOP, the sooner we can get back to a relatively sane 2 party system.

sorry to interrupt the liberal love fest....but any competitive and fair minded person would be saying the same thing ben carson is saying. sooooo?

You do have a good point bounty, the whole reason why Carson is suggesting leaving the party is pretty important, but no less surprising really. The republicans and democrats are both bought out by donors, the former much more than the latter, but still, it does not surprise me that primaries aren't entirely decided by the will of the people. Hence the reason why both sides need to work to get money out of politics all together.

Like his rant about the pyramids?

That's not fucking sane.

Assuming that Trump/Carson pull out of the Republican Party, I think that a third party will take over the Republican Party. It would be even more conservative and gain power quickly religating the Republicans to percentages similar to the Green Party. I also think that the Democratic Base will change to the "you ow me" crownd and will eventually fall by the way side as well.

Democracy is evolving in America. Our two party system may not survive much longer.

And the party fatcats on both sides are endangered.

Not to date myself too much but even when I was young, I enjoyed this much more when the actual nominees weren't selected until the party conventions. The programs were if I may so bold...must watch TV. I think the big difference now and I am not sure but in each primary, it's now 'winner-take-all.' Back in the day, that wasn't decided until delegates were on the convention floor.

If what you assume is correct, the repubs are in serious trouble. As for the dems, I wouldn't put them in the same category as big agri. wall street, bankers in general, about 1/3 or more of the fortune 500 and the MIC, not to mention big pharma but mention them anyway. I mean after all, we 'owe' them right ?

The people don't owe them anything. The Politicians may think they do, but in reality they owe their constituants. If the people keep electing them to office over and over, then it is the people that are fucking up. It is the people's choice.

Lucylastic -> RE: Ben Carson...taking his ball and goin home? (12/12/2015 6:54:18 AM)

the people ARE the problem.

Sorry to interrupt the nutsucker slobbering conspiracy hallucintations but as we know, since we have every nutsuckers word for it the last 8 years, blacks voted for Obama, simply because he is black. They will therefore according to our factual, analytical, insightful nutsucker friends, elect Carson. Of course he will be the nominee.

Or, maybe he woke up to the party of racism, and saw that they want the racist Trump the chump to be the nominee, because of the numbers he is gathering by proudly displaying his racism, and weren't going to REALLY let no black man be the nominee.

But it really doesn't matter who will be the nutsucker nominee, he wont be elected dogcatcher, so who gives a fuck?

the right wing has been rabid about cutting the "rino"s

I'd like to see those moderates either start their own party,
or for the crazies to leave and let the rinos take back their party.
