Think about Watergate and how useless the whole ordeal was. Some operatives, connected to the President bugged an office of the opposing party. But you impeach Nixon because you THINK he ordered this during the times the tapes were erased. Got any sense at all ? A person who "bugs" himself taping every conversation he has in the oval office is trying to hide something ? The fact that he turned it off was what fucked him over.

Bottom line, he never should have turned it on. He was a gambler and actually financed his campaign with poker winnings. He had a big problem with Jews and Israel, and they got him. (they got Clinton too, just not as bad)

But his mind told him that there would be problems and he should record everything FOR HIS OWN PROTECTION. Personally I would have told the court "Fuck you, I was never required to take those tapes of the conversations and therefore they are my own personal possesions and you cannot have them". Tough shit.

Seriously - "Those are my tapes made on my tape machine so go fuck yourself". From the gitgo. But the pressure came. And the fact is if he never released the tapes, there would be no Watergate scandal. And if he never MADE the tapes, there would be no Watergate scandal.

But now, when the government does things to us, spying n shit, things we could sue them for back then and we accept now, you can expect Sanders to come out of this unscathed.

And you should. Fuck it. Morals, right and wrong, those things mean nothing now. Maybe they never did and I just got through finding that out. I don't give a fuck.

Nixon wasn't impeached for the Watergate break-in. He was impeached for the cover-up. Those tape recordings were public property every bit as much as Hillary's emails.

Nixon was too early to have gone to the Bush school of presidential cover-ups where he would have learned to lose or destroy those tapes like W did to those 5 million emails at DOJ. (and as the FBI did with all of those video recordings of the attack on the pentagon that they confiscated)
