Entering into a relationship to get money from them or make money off of them is what was rubbing me the wrong way. That's a transaction, not a relationship. (Though I guess one could argue that if both parties are comfortable with that, then that is, indeed, the relationship.)

There are a lot of trophy wives that do that exact thing. The ugly, inside and out, millionaire with the 22 year old model wife knows that he's paying for that arm candy and she knows she's earning that money by giving the ultimate "girlfriend experience". (and trust me, in some cases they are absolutely earning that money) It's a business relationship - which is what marriages were for centuries.

In many ways though, I feel that's kinda appropriate for some millionaires, because many of them are millionaires because they are busy with work most of the time, and really have no emotional support to give. The only support they can give a woman is financial support, so they look for a young pretty frivolous one, who is happy to just take care of herself with his money and material things and happy to having a family of her own and being absorb in her kids.

There are already alot of marriages where men have complained that once kids are in the picture, he doesn't feel wanted anymore. Her whole life is just tunnel focus on the children only.

I grew up among old money and that's not the case with them. They're more likely to be working on their golf handicap and screaming at the guy that makes them money.

Guys that actually work for their money fall into 2 categories - 1) they're millionaires because they work hard and they're going to be careful about who they marry and what they want. (Hence, the pre-nup) Or 2) Guys that grew up desperate for female attention and now find that money is power. These guys aren't doing this because the relationship is easier, they're doing it because a pretty woman on your arm is a display of power.

The millionaires I've been around are all self-made. They work very hard. Some never stop 7 days a week, running multiple ventures. Many literally have no time to date even. But when they do choose women, appearance is like the top of their list. Everything else is secondary, because to them, they can afford it.

I never met any millionaire with old money to comment about them.

My exes certainly didn't put looks above everything else. I'm far from a model. They appreciated that I didn't care about their money and what I brought to the table as a partner.
