Marini -> Happy New Year!!! Welcome 2016!! (12/31/2015 6:53:44 PM)

I have been looking forward to 2016, for a while.
We live in an era of such turbulent times, that it is difficult to think of a lot of positive political news.
I wanted to start a thread in which we can share POSITIVE political news or our POSITIVE political hopes and dreams.

The only good political news I can think of, is how I have enjoyed the much lower gas prices.
I hope we make strides in the multinational efforts to fight and counter terrorism.

I pray for peace and healing all over the world.
Happy New Year to everyone!
Peace and blessings to all!

There's the one reason 2016 is not as welcome as most new years. We will soon be assaulted with an endless parade of political campaign ads in every form. From TV, radio, news, newspapers, internet, mass mailings, doorknob flyers, lawn signs, billboards, and robo-calls. Ninety-eight percent of them will be negative ads slamming the competition. The remaining two percent that are (supposedly) positive will say absolutely nothing of any real substance. I say 2017 can't get here soon enough.

Wishing you and yours a happy and prosperous new year.

I have to admit, outside of the political landscape, I hope for a happy, safe, healthy 2016 for everyone.
Inside the political landscape, its gonna be a bumpy ride...maybe I can hope it will be different at the end of this year:)

Enjoy your personal journeys, with love compassion and fun.

Completely agree with you there, Lucy.

I'd rather it be bumpy. I'd rather the Federal Government disagree on how to fuck us, rather than agreeing on how to fuck us. [:D]

I know this is in response to Thompson, but I'm going to assume this part, at least, was mean for the general audience, and accept your well wishes, and return them 10-fold back to you.

It was a general response DS:) ALtho I argue a lot, and we have cross words, and differences of opinions, I like you, simple as that... And thankyou:)

Awwww, huggles.
It is great when people can agree to disagree, and remain civil to each other .
Let's hope we see more of this spirit on these boards in 2016!
Happy New Year!!

FR

Happy New(ish) Year, folks!

What struck me as positive on the P&R horizon in 2015? Let's see . . .

Pope Francis came to the U.S., where the pontiff's simple, warm style, along with that wee Fiat, upended many folks' pictures of a how a pope could and should undertake his ministry. I was struck, particularly on Facebook, by how many people who'd never talked religion before were really moved by Francis.

Ben Carson is giving us all a crash course on the futility of reducing complex people to simple labels. Always good to have that key point reinforced.

Bernie Sanders has shaken the Democratic complacency/dismay over Hillary Clinton's apparently unstoppable glide to the nomination. He also seems to be engaging younger citizens in a way no one has done for a while.

Then there's all the excitement in my queer corner of the land: http://www.washingtonblade.com/2015/12/30/top-10-national-stories-of-2015/

The biggest item, imho, is gay marriage--something I'd never expected to see in my lifetime.

Warmest wishes to you all for a grand 2016!

Unless one lives in a state that will be voting Republican (i.e. North Dakota) or Democrat (i.e. Massachusetts). In which case you'll hear something about it, but will never be as bombarded by political material as other key purple states. I have friends that live in New Hampshire. They say every political season sends more political material then they get feet of snow! To which I remind them: You could always live in Massachusetts....(to which they groan).

Yes, can't wait for 2017. That's when Hillary Clinton takes over from President Obama to become the nation's first female President (until 2024). When Congress is removed of the useless filth known as 'Republicans' to be Democratically controlled. 2017 will mark the year the US Supreme Court has a new vacancy and a liberal Justice swings decisions back in favor of the American people.

Well on your way to your monopolistic dreams eh, Joether?
