Greta75 -> Difference between Bush/Saddam and Obama/Gaddafi (1/1/2016 6:47:07 PM)

When the whole Gaddafi take down incident was going on. I wasn't paying attention to the news at that time. On the surface, I just thought, there was civil war going on, and as usual, US went in and took sides and a Muslim Dictator got killed, I didn't care. It was only very recently I read more indepth about it. Both dictators were taken down for the same reasons, believed to post future threats to terrorism. But what surprises me is Gaddafi eldest son tried to negotiate to prevent a full blown war with Obama. He asked for a fair election, that can be monitored by US, and they will step down, if they lost the election. They were willing to find a resolution on peaceful grounds. But Obama downright rejected it. And this the Obama Democratic Lead US, doing this. They could have brought some real democracy to Libya and respect the true people's choice. There is a chance that Gaddafi might genuinely win that election, due to his excessive welfare schemes that improved people's lives, but that's democracy. Kinda just proves to me, Libs are more against freedom than Cons. Just saying. If they totally disagree with your point of view, they would shut you down.
