I watched it. It looks like we'll have some stories wrapped up nicely. And, for the love and cheese and crackers....let Edith be happy!

I like period dramas so gave it a go. Sat down to watch at 9pm, two people bumped into one another at 9.01pm, they hadn't moved and were still apologising at 10.00pm.

Absolutely nothing happened in an hour.

Never again.

I watched it.

For those in the US. If you are interested in learning what it would be like to live at Downton Abby at the time of that period. I recommend touring the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina. It is an estate equal to that of Downton Abby from the same time period. The audio tour of the estate is very enlightening and you will picture Downton Abby in your mind as you make the tour.

I saw it. I'm glad they gave Anna and Bates a break, it's about time. And I agree with Oside. Edith really needs to be happy for at least one or two episodes.

Or you can tour the mansion in Newport, RI.

Never got into it but do love the clothes, ended up spending a fortune on eBay for a Victorian coat, looked fab though should have checked the material, wool, broke out in hives and passed it on to a friend who loves the hell out of it. It really looked great on me but scratching my skin off so wasn't worth it....

For the actual adults in the room that know how to have a decent conversation, FUCK EDITH, shes such a twit. lol

I stumbled across a show the other day (I like the TV on as background noise as I work) and it tickled my curiosity enough to be distracting. You know the show on HGTV called "House Hunters" where they show some perspetive buyer looking at three properties and then choosing one? Well, this was "Castle Hunters"- Americans buying castles in Europe.

For those visiting the U.K. in the not too distant future, you can actually visit the place that Downton abbey was shot........Highclere Castle in Carnarvon and I believe they do guided tours now. I never saw the show but I am told it was well made.

TNDommeK,
Take a weekend and go visit the Biltmore. You are semi-close (about 7 hours?) The self guided audio tour of the house takes about 2 to 3 hours . Tour the grounds and visit the winery after that and you can make a good half day to spend there. I you like all things of that period, you will get to see a lot of neat things and learn the history as well.

I cannot say that I have ever heard of any Abbey called Downton! I lived a life in cloisters once myself and it was a secure and peaceful existence indeed.

High clere Castle in carnafon North Wales, look you boys? Travel to Manchester by airplane then get a train from Piccadilly Station to Crewe or Chester. Then the Train to Holyhead getting off a Llandudno Junction, (good views of the Irish Sea and small Welsh seaside resorts, a beached ocean liner, hundreds of offshore wind turbines).get a bus to Carnafon and another one from there. Hear people speaking Welsh and see police cars with the word Heddlu on them. Tip you can travel all over Wales on buses for just over £5 a day. You can travel to many places in say 16 hours on the buses. Great countryside. In the south they do not speak Welsh but have damn strange accents.

I'd also like to visit the Winchester House. It piques my interest. I saw a very cool doc on it once and wanted to go ever since.
