And it may go even higher.

What if you won? What if you were the only winner?

Me? I'm buying Collarspace!

Actually, I'd reserve a portion to ensure comfortable futures for me and my loved ones and then, truth be told, I'd give the bulk of it away. Some of it I'd give to larger charities like Red Cross and some I donate to causes like fighting creationism but I think I's also do stuff like drive around the country paying off people's hospital bills.

And I'd start my own restaurant.

And I actually might buy collarspace.

LadyPact -> RE: 1.3 Billion (1/10/2016 9:31:25 AM)

Man, you don't want to buy collarspace. It's old, it's clunky, it's always breaking down...

Hire somebody to build you something completely new. Look at the success Fet has. If Baku can get that one up to almost four million, I'm pretty sure there's another guru out there that can do something similar.

I'd have no idea of what to do with that kind of money. I'll settle for half of that in cash and we can find out.

I am going to build a mansion in Ft Lauderdale Florida. I am talking huge. Think Downtown Abby or Biltmore size. And then hosting some of the Fetish Factory monthly events at the Mansion. Oh that would be just sooooo awwwsoooommmeee!

OsideGirl -> RE: 1.3 Billion (1/10/2016 10:47:41 AM)

M and I were talking yesterday about how amazing it would be to give to our favorite charities.

And Yes...everyone in the family would be getting a home.

LadyConstanze -> RE: 1.3 Billion (1/10/2016 10:48:19 AM)

Nice big house with massive massive grounds for the cats and dogs to roam, somewhere warm!

I read that 44% of those who win the lottery have spent all the money in 5 years. This lottery is so big I think it might be difficult to spend all that in 5 years.

We'd make all our kids multimillionairs. Then I guess we'd have to put something aside for the grandkids. Friends would also get a share. We'd rebuild the house in Montana and get a nice house here in AZ with hot tub and pool. Would hire someone to cook and clean. Then I'd have a huge deluxe chicken coop built for my girls. When all is said and done, the best part of winning all that money is giving it away. We have our favorite charities that we've supported for years. They'd get a nice bit of cash. Then it would be great to help people who are needy with medical bills. One thing I have always wanted to do is go out to eat somewhere and leave a really big tip just before the holidays.

CodeOfSilence -> RE: 1.3 Billion (1/10/2016 11:28:51 AM)

You know how people say that "100 thousand wouldn't change my life but 10 million would". Or what ever sum might be relative to someone.

Well this 1.3 billion is somewhere between making you an international factor or just a national one.
I mean you could buy the services of an entire paradise island like the Seychelles for a year but at the same time you could only nibble at Apple and their total net value of 700 billion.

I wish I could buy a few tickets, it might well reach balance of equity next round :P

I love the idea of a cross-country road trip and finding people in unfortunate situations and helping them out.

But that would be after
1. paying off debts.
2. investing in a manner that would preserve the fortune but still allow me a healthy allowance each month.
3. quitting my job
4. giving a chunk to each of my family members
5. building an offensively massive compound-like estate for me and my family, where everyone has their own space but we are never far from each other. I've got a few friends I would throw in there as well.
6. throw myself and my money into charities
7. travel

The best investment in terms of the lottery from what I understand is annuity.
There's no way you can really beat a 35% or something like this increase in the value + 4% interest; we are talking about a guaranteed investment - one that can't lose money like you can on the property market or elsewhere.

DesFIP -> RE: 1.3 Billion (1/10/2016 2:17:09 PM)

Buy a new car for me, new truck for The Man.

Finish sending our assorted brood to college and grad school.

Set up college funds for the grands.

I'd like a condo on Marco Island for the winter. Pay for different offspring to come down every other week.

But mainly I'd set up a foundation to give away a certain percent every year. That way, all the requests for money from people across the country would be looked at by people paid to deal with begging letters. I'd fund a therapeutic riding school. Because kids who feel hopeless and out of control in their life can turn that around when they discover that they can control a 1200 pound horse.
Quarter horses with some Hancock in them preferably.

MariaB -> RE: 1.3 Billion (1/10/2016 2:30:13 PM)

Before I bought a ticket I'd want to know the odds. If there was more chance of being killed in a plane crash I wouldn't bother but then I'm tight like that!

If I won more money than I could comprehend ever spending I'd have to do something to keep myself busy.
I'd set up a charity/trust and support some good causes.
I would set my kids up in business, and although I'd make sure they had a roof and stability, I wouldn't spoil them, but give them an opportunity to make their own fortunes.
Steve and me would probably spend a year climbing in China.

The odds of winning the Power Ball Jacketpot are 1 in 292 million:

You have better odds to:
• Have an IQ of 190 or greater (1 out of 107 million)
• Give birth to quadruplets, even without the help of fertility treatments – (1 in 729,000)
• Be killed by an asteroid strike (1 in 700,000)
• Being an American billionaire (1 in 575,097)
• Be killed by a lightning strike – (1 in 164,968)
• Die by drowning (1 in 1,113)
• Be struck by lightning, while drowning (1 in 183 million)

But someone has to win!

MrRodgers -> RE: 1.3 Billion (1/10/2016 6:24:45 PM)

Well as long as we are on the subject. I would start a huge charitable trust and employ (hire) people all over the country looking for what I call...worthy Street charities. These would be the people who actually need and use the money themselves...the end user on the street.

The trouble with too many charitable trusts and foundations today, is that they are large bureaucracies that just end up giving money to other charities with more huge bureaucracies. In the end, a good 20-to 40% of the money is wasted on you got it...bureaucracies. Save, spend and invest $300 million for myself and mine. Then it's 1,000 millions...imagine the jobs created.

Not only would I employ 1000's in maybe 1000 cities but I'd get the money...to the street that pays bills, support staff that supports people. I'd have [it] pay rent(s) utilities, computers, books, teaching and mentoring staff, insurance etc., etc.

I would buy all the butt-huts in nevada and put all the girls on salary.
Free pussy for the socially inept.

An addendum-I would outlaw socks.

I would throw every penny I could at every politician in the USA to get them all to pass laws banning socks. Everywhere.

Even the warm and fuzzy ones. Sorry, but drastic times call for drastic measures.

Annoying little fuckers gotta ruin it for all the cozy ones.

(Except rainbow toe-socks. I might could make an exception for those.)

TallClevDom -> RE: 1.3 Billion (1/11/2016 7:38:16 PM)

I'd spend most of it on hard liquor and fast women, then I'd probably squander the rest of it foolishly.

sattndoll -> RE: 1.3 Billion (1/11/2016 9:16:07 PM)

Family, friends, charity and travel...

DocStrange -> RE: 1.3 Billion (1/12/2016 12:32:46 AM)

Now up to 1.4 billion!
