Actually, a tattoo need not be permanent. There is an inexpensive, albeit painful as all hell, to remove a tattoo yourself. You need a Datsan B210 hatch back with the original core radiator, and then just get the damn thing to over heat. Once the temp has reached a critical point, pop the hood and allow the faulty radiator design do the rest, just allow the part of the body with the tattoo to hover over the radiator cap while you wait for the results. You see, the pressure in the radiator will blow the neck and radiator cap off the radiator, thereby releasing the contents, which when hitting the skin where the tattoo is located, will cause 3rd degree steam burns effectively removing the tattoo. As a side note, it will also remove wanted and unwanted body hair as well. While it was the unintentional proximity to such a vehicle (my youngest sister's car) at her request to try and help her with the situation with said vehicle, and all I had actually done was pop the hood and reach for the neat little thing that the factory provided to hood said hood up, my arm passed the critical point at the critical time resulting in the complete removal of a snake that began at my right wrist, up my arm and across my chest. It also removed my chest hair, my beard, my mustache and about four square inches of hair on the right side of my head. Now eventually the all lost hair grew back (2 years of shaving my head) and 8 years to regain the ability to regrow a full beard. While effective, it is not a technique I would recommend, even if you happen to be a masochist. However, I can say with experience that the technique of application as used in the majority of modern tattoo shops is less painful than if you decide to find an old school Japanese tattoo artist.
