... Most of all I think it's important that ordinary Joe Schmoes here show their disapproval of him, rather than just the elites (and most particularly the intelligentsia) - should he ever grace our humble isle with a visit, that is.

Nobody so far mentioned that the debate was the consequence of a referendum signed by about 570,000 - supported by the neighbours of T.'s estates in Scotland who claim to be harassed by him for years. Hardly any muslims among them I heard.

Just wondering what they will do and say when Trump becomes President...after all it is a sure thing now that Palin has come out on his side.

Butch

As far as wondering what happens if he becomes prez...my little human came home the other day and told me I needed to vote for Trump. I asked him why, and his response was "I've never seen a presidential assassination".

It took everything I had not to laugh. I didn't want him to think it was ok to say things like that. Much as I dislike Trump, I would never condone that. But it was so unexpected and the little one has great comedic delivery already, that I had to fight the laughing. .

Ha... You should be videoing him and putting his comedy on Youtube, there are little kids (& bigger kids) making a lot of money doing stuff like that there..

Donald Trump is the Joker in the pack. He was persuaded to stand so others would have a smoother ride and he could mouth off and take the flak. Once Palin endorsed him the signal was sent that Trump had served his purpose. All the democrats can realistically offer is there own tainted clown Hillary Clinton. The Democrats have others in the wings ready to wheel out once the primary stage is over. it matters not who gets the job in the white house. For most nothing will change and the status quo will be maintained. Those unelected and clandestine individuals who collectively rule America and indeed the world economy dictate policy. Presidents are given some leeway to deal with their parochial interests.

Jokerr -> RE: UK discuss Trump. (1/24/2016 1:36:04 AM)

The Ancient Mother of Parliaments standing on the north bank of the Thamsis Fluvius in the City of Westminster was once the most powerful and influential institution in the world but is no longer so. It surrendered that power to the City of London and it's livery companies at the dawn of empire. British Jews and wasps united to form influential and wealthy trading companies and manipulating Monarchy and parliament to issue monopoly charters. MPs often debate irrelevant matters to justify their existance and partake of a freeloader lifestyle. Few people enter politics to help constituents. They do so to help themselves. It matters not what party they join. They all now come from mostly posh private schools and the prestigious universities. The people do not matter save for elections. They blow hot air but do has they are told. A pretend absorbance at Trump statements.

I will add my own small worth to the above comments. We are for the most part Armchair debaters that the world passes by. We have neither power nor influence no matter our education is social class. Unless and until we ourselves choose to become physically and actively engaged in matters politic then we are debating things that really do not directly concern us. It is not easy to enter politics to the extent that one gets noticed. If we want change ten we should unite with likeminded people and campaign for change. This is fraught with danger since those happy with the status quo will use all means, fair or foul to shut us up. We will be followed, have our homes and workplaces tapped, our mail and our electronic mail read remotely, be watched at home via our own television and computer screens, have our friends and relatives turned against us, be ridiculed and vilified in the media, be harassed by law enforcement and much more besides. All this in a supposed democracy! Does it really matter to any of us no matter who we are registered to vote for? Divisive politics is bad for nation’s citizens but ideal for presenting a false image of healthy democratic debate. We are left out of any and all decision making processes. Laws are passed that are rarely to our advantage but always to the advantage of politicians and Corporate America. The last recession was a false one. It was designed to get bankers and multi nationals off the hook whilst tripling their fortunes whilst government reduced the income of the working population dependent upon salaries and wages from earned labor to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table and cloths on their backs. I know one thing for certain and that is at the last winning post of the race for the white house neither Hillary Rodham Clinton are Donald Trump will be in that final furlong. People have a tendency to vote for the people that can cause untold harm to the reputation of their United States. Ronald Regan was not favourite and was regarded as a clown yet he became one of the best presidents of the twentieth century. George W Bush had the advantage of being born into a mega rich and powerful elite family of oil and weapons manufacturing billionaires who could buy the presidency. He was the figurehead but his daddy and daddy’s friends pulled the strings. This made up for the Father falling out with some folks and not getting a second term and making way for Clinton presidency that the republicans sabotaged at every turn. I reckon Monika Lewinski was a paid Republican saboteur placed there to befriend, flirt with, ensnare and then bring down. It never quite worked out though. Obama has been a decent president but underlying prejudice has hindered his time in office and the republicans have tried to discredit him often. We will get the president we deserve and one frankly, already chosen before any so called election takes place. Whoever it will be makes no matter because nothing will change for the vast majority of us.

They had no choice than to discuss it in parliament

Our Parliament has no choice other than to discuss an American?

'You sure?

They should be discussing the success of this country.

Who cares what Donald Trump thinks, and why it should it even be an issue in relation to whether or not he enters this country.

This is the reason why politics isn't far off being dead in this country, Maria.

People like you.

Because you have a bee in your bonnet about certain causes you've aligned yourself to, you think our politicians should be discussing an utter non-issue.

Yeah, by all means, let's pay them to discuss Donald Trump. 'Problem being that if they're discussing Donald Trump who's discussing the future of this country?

'Suppose that doesn't matter to you providing your whims, i.e. a bloke thousands of miles away and his opinions, are attended to.

Given the rules - Parliament has to discuss any petition that's gathered 100,000 or more signature - it doesn't have a choice.

Yeah, these are the important issues for our country. Some fella in a wig on the other side of the world with more money than sense.

There's a chance that he could be the next President, though, NG. This would be terrible news for the rest of the world given the perilously delicate state of things in the ME, as well as elsewhere, IMO. I can't imagine a better use of the phrase 'bull in a china shop' - the man would be a bloody menace.

Thats as may be NG but under our laws it is for the people to decide what MPs discuss, not you and not me.

Trump, while being many things, may possibly be the next President of the US, that should be a concern for all of us........

NorthernGent -> RE: UK discuss Trump. (2/7/2016 9:40:39 AM)

Why should we care what the Americans do?

And the next president of the United States isn't going to be much of a departure in their history. They've been invading countries for decades, centuries even, so a new fella in a wig can't really make things worse.

It's an absolute embarrassment that a great country like ours gives the first fuck what they do in the United States.

I understand your point about petitions and the like, but my point is that in the event we have 100,000 people in this country with absolutely any sort of interest in a bloke in a wig thousands of miles away then we may as well fuck it off and pack in now.

Our focus should be on the education in this country, health, homelessness etc.

Politesub53 -> RE: UK discuss Trump. (2/13/2016 4:38:02 PM)

I think we not only should, but absolutely must care what the Americans do. The USA has way too much influence on our own politics for us to do otherwise.

Surely better to suggest we don`t want have anything to do with Trump, or even Cruz come to that, than to make the suggestion after either of them get elected ?

Dvr22999874 -> RE: UK discuss Trump. (2/13/2016 6:19:03 PM)

The USA has way to much influence on Everybody's politics *smile*

Greta75 -> RE: UK discuss Trump. (2/13/2016 9:40:43 PM)

Lol, most of my friends are Huff Post fans, and that is the only media they read about American Politics. Anybody who reads Huff Post all day, can only become a Trump hater. They were saying, if Trump became President, they will boycott US! lol!

Funny. It's also funny that they think his a lunatic and US economy will completely tank under him.

blnymph -> RE: UK discuss Trump. (2/14/2016 4:32:31 AM)

One hardly needs Huffington Post to think that iDioT is an idiot ...

it needs thinking though

HEE HEE HOO HOO. This is hysterical! My fellow brothers and sisters, you all started men wearing wigs in the first place! Donalds hair is actually real! (now granted it does look like a wig and looks funny in the wind) but thats beside the point.
He funds his own campaign thats how damn good he is! He doesnt have to suck anyones backside because they gave him some bj money. his entitles him to be as direct as he wants. I admire a man who doesnt mansy pansy all over the place. Could he have more tact? Of course he could, but I happen to adore his style. He is a rooster and man can he crow. I adore the man. He is not classless as you may think. what is class anyway? holding your finger right while sipping tea because people say so? he is not a policitian and I love it love it love it!!!

blnymph -> RE: UK discuss Trump. (2/14/2016 11:50:33 AM)
