ORIGINAL: Kree Since I live in an area where there are no groups that show people what to do, I began my learning about the use of toys by reading books and research on the internet. As I purchased toys, I would (ouch) hit myself with them to get an idea of what force gave what sensation. Of course, everyone has a different reaction to a toy, but trying it on myself gave me some idea of what was there. When toys that require a lot more skills are involved, education becomes a necessity. I dont feel anyone can learn the technique of using a singletail or a bullwhip by reading about it. It requires some type of instruction and a great deal of practice. Buying one doesnt bring skill, practice does. I learned from an expert and followed his practice instructions. There are pillows in my house that cringe if they hear the word whip. That practice has a price for the one learning. I have more scars on my hands from that practice than I have left in scenes. yessssssssss!!! I couldn't agree more! Practice, practice, practice!!! (pillows are yer friends......your masochistic friends!) LOL quote:
In my opinion, the mental part of WIITWD is something that is too often overlooked in the rush to accumulate toys. If someone doesnt have the attitude and the presence to create a mental connection, all the toys in the world cant make it happen. I dont think that the mental can be learned. I think it is inherent and that is what causes someone to realize they are dominant. I have seen threads where people want to try to learn to be a switch. Yes, they can learn the toy techniques, but if they dont have the mental makeup, practice can make them a top, but not a dominant. Perhaps that is the "switch dynamic", top/bottm as opposed to dominant/submissive. Just a thought. Yup, that would be me, Sir! LOL
