I enjoyed Cummings time...ALtho he was far too soft on him when it came to snyders comment "Im going to have to live with this for the rest of my life"

I watched various parts earlier this morning, and im still in a shitty mood about it.
I need to blast some music and get on with some more work.

Have a good day!!!!

Phydeaux -> RE: The truth comes out about Flint. (3/18/2016 8:34:45 AM)

Yeah its quite sickening how bad government works. ...

mnottertail -> RE: The truth comes out about Flint. (3/18/2016 9:01:42 AM)

Well, it is quite sickening how nutsuckers want government to work badly, how many nutsuckers are trying to get into government, and how many nutsuckers are destroying it and our nation.

Yes! I enjoyed Cummings as well. My link didn't include his entire time, and not even my favorite portion, unfortunately.
Cartwright didn't really hold back, but came across as pandering to the public more than anything.

Hope you're in a better mood [:)]

Why is the EPA so racist?

http://www.rollcall.com/news/policy/was-epa-unwilling-to-go-out-on-a-limb-for-flint

In the depth of Flint, Mich.’s water crisis – months after federal and state officials learned that the city’s tap water showed alarming levels of lead and bacteria but months before they alerted the public – an U.S. Environmental Protection Agency official discouraged a colleague from using federal money to buy water filters for the city residents.

“I’m not so sure Flint is the community we want to go out on a limb for,” Region 5 Water Division Branch Chief Debbie Baltazar wrote to the regional administrator and others, in a September email disclosed at a congressional hearing Tuesday. Baltazar went on to express concerns about the city’s past use of sewer and water fees for other priorities.

Members of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform said this and other documents showed a pattern of indifference among federal and state officials toward the plight of the residents of Flint – a largely African American community that is among the poorest and most crime-ridden cities in the country.

“Was this driven by race? Was this driven by the fact that this was a poor city? Was this because they were underserved?” Chairman Justin Chaffetz, R-Utah asked during opening statements.

“Why isn’t Flint the community they go to? Of all the communities out there, the one having the toughest time is the one that needs the most protection.”

Why do you ascribe racism to the epa when your cite clearly says it was Region 5 Water Division Branch Chief Debbie Baltazar? Why are you trying to be deceitful?

bounty44 -> RE: The truth comes out about Flint. (3/18/2016 5:00:48 PM)

because the person in question is an EPA official? you know, a representative of the EPA?

as for more elaboration on aylee's question---maybe try reading it from the perspective of a conservative jokingly (or bitingly) using the same language/tactics that is typical for a liberal?

"sardonic," not "literal" might be the reading you are looking for.

and yeah yeah---im a punkassmotherfucker with an unsubstantiated ignorant opinion who only opens my mouth to change feet. did I get everything? oh and puerile too. there, now you can use your energy to go insult someone else.

So you are saying that the pedophiles within the republicrat party speak for the party as a whole thus making the whole republicrat party and their supporters a possie of pedophiles? Are you sure you are comfortable with that?

and yeah yeah---im a punkassmotherfucker with an unsubstantiated ignorant opinion who only opens my mouth to change feet.

Since you have freely admitted to being a punkassmothrfucker whith an unsubstantiated ignorant opinion who only opens your mouth to change feet why do you consider the truth to be insulting?

I can understand why someone might chafe at the idea of sending more money to a community that has already misused previously sent money. And, here is where problems explode. IF her allegations of misuse are correct (and I'm not saying they are or they aren't), how does that get taken care of? It sure doesn't seem like the best thing to do (for Flint residents) would be to punish them by withholding necessary support, resulting in elevated lead levels. But, if nothing is done to "punish" those that misuse allocated funding, what's the point in allocating funding for something anyway?

What would make this even worse, would be to find out that Baltazar's accusations were correct and that had the allocated monies been used as allocated, this disaster wouldn't have happened, as the projects the money was for would have addressed the situation.

The govornors stooge was in charge, so how difficult would it have been to go to him and bypass those she thought were missappropriating funds?

I've only been jumping up and down about this very point for a year now. I've written half a dozen posts where all the democrat water boards robbed their capital improvement funds to pay "enhanced" bonuses and salaries to their unionized employees.

It got so bad at DWDS that rather all cash flow went to benefits - and bonds had to be issued to run improvements. And the only reason Detroit ever got back to sanitary water conditions was because they were under judges supervision and scrutiny for like 20 years.

I previously provided a link to the court transcripts - where detroit suffered unsanitary water for FIVE YEARS.

Yet you democrats would rather keep circling the wagon and keep poisoning people rather than get rid of the democrat unions that caused the problem.

As for how it gets fixed - contrary to opinions expressed here.. the solution is already occurring.

The fact that a dozen cities and counties got so fed up with DWDS and could no longer afford their water; the fact that detroit went backrupt and is having supervison; the fact that emergency managers are working on the finances of many of these boards - will go a long way to ending the feather bedding and corrupt practices.

Like..DWDS needs a blacksmith.. why?

So the question is - can democrats put their partisanship behind them and work to ensure that city and county governments work for the benefit of their citizens - not for the benefit of their party and unions. So far the answer is a resounding .. 'no'.

Slavery has been outlawed. Unions are legal. Now you have to pay for labor...get used to it.

You have shown no proof tht unions caused any problems.

Oh there is another silly boy who thinks that the only thing a black smith does is shoe horses...Most any dumbass knows that black smith is another word of tool maker. But then you are not just any dumbass are you?

Actually the governor has taken full responsibility and apologized and he is neither a demopub nor a union member. Didn't you get the memo?[8|]

Not a lie to misremember, but point taken.

But the really salient details, such as DWDS having featherbedded with 800 employees, needing bonds to pay for improvements, having unsanitary water for year after year, being under judges supervision..

Towns being unable to afford detroit water, democrats choosing to jump ship.. etc etc. -- all of that you have no answer for.

And the fundamental truth is that in much of michigan 5-10% of children - not just in flint - are still being lead poisoned. Democrats aren't out to get the people that poisoned people - they're out to get snider.

Showing, that once again - being partisan is more important to liberals rather than ending a democrat fiefdom and fixing the problem.

As I wrote in the OP and this from Latimer...a life long repub:

This is the Republicans’ chance to show their worth — the chance our leaders have said they always wanted. Why haven’t they been here over the decades, running serious candidates, supporting federal aid for the city, championing pilot projects that might show what a conservative approach to urban areas might do? Why aren't they in Flint today, shipping in water bottles and holding fund-raisers for kids now condemned to lowered expectations because their brains were poisoned by lead ?

It cannot be, as the left would tell us, because Flint has a large African-American population. Or that the city has always been a Democratic stronghold. That’s exactly a place Republicans should target.

I think it’s because they are used to staying away. The party is accustomed to talking about policies and ideas to help urban America and then implementing them in safe, Republican-friendly areas like Idaho or Arizona.
It’s not easy to go to a place where nobody knows you or likes you. It’s not easy to make change.

Misremember?
Ahuh ahuh sure thang..
Sadly it goes directly to your inability to use the simple tools to "check" your claims on YOUR own posts on a message board.
And also your lack of credibility.
You call it misremembering phydeaux. I call it a pathetic attempt to divert the truth.

Well, NY, LA, Miami have had repub mayors and many of their policies worked. Now the last repub mayor of Chicago was Big Bill and he jumped right in bed with Capone. Maybe that's why he was the last repub mayor. They have to try and keep trying.

The truth is, economic policies from Washington and from repubs mostly, have seen millions of jobs leave the major cities. By the 1970's, the fortune 500 had entirely left almost all cities of 500,000 or more. Look at the jobs having left Detroit and Balt. and then include the obvious redlining and then look what the dems had to work with.

Maybe, just maybe if the repubs had stuck it out in Detroit for example (I am from Detroit) then all of the surrounding areas could have got their water for example from Detroit and there. Repubs were mayor of Det. for 38 of 40 or so years and were twice corrupt.

Then Coleman young as mayor (over 20 years) over the complete destruction of the auto industry that the repubs had enjoyed. Was probably responsible for such city job patronage that even the very popular Dave Bing couldn't overcome...because of it. ( Marion Berry...same thing in DC)

Not so. Unionized labor jobs are unable to compete with foreigners. That would be true with free trade agreements, or without them. What is true is that most of the remaining fortune 500 companies are

Tech companies, starting in silicon valley or Boston
Health care companies - cincinatti
Financial services - NY
But most of the rest of them - where the US can compete due to lower wages and higher productivity are in non union states. This is why boeing moved its production to south carolina, and considers moving its hq.
