Status: offline 		   In the OTK position although hairbrushes and paddles are great, they leave massive bruising which sometimes results in premature stopping of a severe spanking. My question is: are there implements to use which cause unbearable pain but don't result in massive bruising? Remember I am talking about in the OTK position.

How about electric flyswatter?  Not exactly spanking but can be accomplished similarly.  Straps might be able to delay bruising moreso than more solid whappy things.  But, depending on how hard...and it seems like that is what you are looking for...those can bruise too.

Status: offline 		another thing...if bruises are an issue, you may want to look into vitamins or whatnot to help you reduce your liklihood of bruising.  There are some good articles on bruising and prevention you can find.

Status: offline 		Go to a carpet store & get 2 squares of self adhesive floor tile & stick them together. Cut a paddle shape from them with an exacto- knife. Very light material, does not bruise but It's lke sitting of a beehive for the slave.

Status: offline 		Unbearable pain is a matter of perception, of course.

Some people think canes hurt more than paddles. A short and thin cane might help you. The short length will allow it to be used OTK, and a small diameter will result in more surface stingy sensation and less bruising. You want rattan, though, not synthetics--delrin bruises really well.

Try a rubber paddle or strap rather than a leather one. Rubber typically stings more than leather. Plastic paddles are lighter than wooden ones, and, now that I think of it, may not bruise as much.

I infer that the appearance of bruises causes spankings to sooner than they need to or than you want to. If you want to continue the spanking after bruises appear, why don't you just communicate to your top that excessive bruising is okay with you, and that the appearance of bruises isn't an indicator of your satisfaction?

Status: offline 		I have heard that placing warm damp towels over the submissives bottom before spanking increases the sensitivity of the flesh but also provides protection from bruising.  Has anyone else heard of that one??

Status: offline 		IMHO, if you are leaving "massive bruising", its too long, too hard and borders on a beating--( or your sub may just be a bruiser)---common sense here---modify the stroke, the height of the hand, the location of the swat, the length of the spanking and most important--your depth of anger.

Status: offline 		I bruise if someone hugs me too hard...  some folks are just bruisers.  I am going to say that you'll just have to experiment.  I know several folks who rarely mark anymore after years of play.  I have everything in my toybag from woods to leather to lexan, and I can use all of them to bruise, on the right person. 

Regarding the "unbearable pain"...  very personal.  To me, rubber is amazing, deep tissue bruising, lasting burn, the works.   Since you are talking about a punishment type scene, I am presuming that there is no warmup involved, so you could bring out the big guns right away.   Anything used long enough is amazingly bad.  Practice some more?

Cat, I don't see how bruising is related to anger - I've given and gotten lots of bruises without any anger, punishment, or other negative emotions involved.

blister, I have had pretty severe bruising a few times, that lasted over a week, but it didn't start turning colors until at least a few hours had passed. Even easy-to-bruise people don't usually color up past deep red during the scene.

Status: offline 		LOL!  Somewhere, Andalusite, there are some polaroids that say that is VERY untrue!  And I have turned some backsides some VERY good colours during a scene.  It either happens or it doesn't.  It's the "unbearable pain" aspect of the OP's question that still intrigues me.

A painslut bottom I was playing with made this loop-paddle-thingie out of a loop of weed-whacker line, thick red stuff, looks kinda like that strawberry-licorice candy . . . . . It's reminiscent of one of those old skool rug-beater things, but much more simple, just the loop with a handle . .. . .

It's a mean toy, which I like cuz I tend to wanna stay on the 'light' end of the hitting spectrum in terms of force exerted -- meaner toys tend to equal more bang for the buck . .....

There's only so far 'thuddey' toys can go before bruising is kinda inevitable . . . . . . & I vote with the 'variety is the spice of life' folks . ... . .

Status: offline 		LH, I've seen it happen a few times, it's just relatively unusual, in my experience, and I *personally* don't tend to have bruises really color up until at least 2 or 3 hours have passed. Sometimes a scene lasts that long, or longer, so I'm just barely starting to have them turn pretty colors besides red, but I can't imagine doing a straight OTK spanking scene for that long! I'd want to shift positions or do something else for a while. Getting or giving bruises and welts hasn't required stopping a scene, so far, for me.

I've had lots of pain play that was unbearable or just short of unbearable but didn't leave marks (I'm very sensitive about nipple play, for example). Electrical play toys can also be extremely intense without leaving marks. Starting out without a warmup (or ramping up right along with the warmup) can make me so sensitive that any touch hurts, with just a hand spanking that didn't leave marks at all. Punishment wasn't involved, he just liked making me actually hurt instead of hurting in a yummy way sometimes. I've had a couple of people yellow out from me pinching them fairly hard, but not so hard that I left any marks, and from other things, but that *did* leave marks. I don't like most hard sting, so that's pretty easy to get to "unbearable" levels with minimal effort. Getting thwacked over bone (accidentally, usually on my pelvis right above my butt) can easily hurt badly enough to need a time-out for a few minutes, without necessarily leaving a mark there. I guess it just depends on pain tolerance (including what type of toy, and how warmed up the person is).
