"Adam Arreola, a senior at Bellarmine High School in San Jose, last month filed
paperwork with the United States Patent Office. Once approved, the student
said his condom will instantly detect an STD and offer the user visual proof."

As a side note, Robert Bellermine is a Catholic saint. If this teen is
attending a Catholic high school that would make this an even better story.

That is pretty amazing. I wonder if they have named them yet?
The dip stick comes to mind.

Well, that's sure to add to the romance and passion of the occasion. He goes in once, then they both get out of bed, don glasses and white coats and inspect the condom. If this invention had existed in Shakespeare's day, I have no doubt at all that he'd have written it into 'Romeo and Juliet'.

I do NOT !!!!

apropos of nothing on this thread; I think we are about to be invaded by more peewits/socks. I could be wrong but I am getting that itchy feeling ( like lice).

Hmm, the sub text displayed in the new article is that he is patenting a "concept" but not an actual product. Has he actually developed a product?

I'm skeptical as STD is not a single organism that a chemical test could identify or we would have a plethora of home STD tests on the market by now.

I can see that if you included a pH detector in a condom you would be able to flag yeast infections or herpes infections. I can't see a color change flagging infections that don't cause a pH change like syphilis or gonorrhea.

Is this kid an inventor or a patent troll in training?

Hmm, how about liquid crystal temperature sensors in a condom that would flag the vaginal temperature increase associated with an egg dropping? Would that have a market?

If it works, wouldn't that be amazing?

I can't imagine myself coming up with something like that. If it really does work, I hope the kid makes a mint.
