It depends on the pain. Thud almost always feels good, sting is painful if I'm not warmed up enough. Sting from singletails tends to feel quite different from other stingy impact play, and I still enjoy it even if I'm in tears.

I liken it to the berries from the plant Synsepalum dulcificum, that when eaten make bitter or sour flavours taste sweet instead... there's chemistry going on that changes your interpretation of the experience.

Can is a big fat "Of course" because you're basically asking about every possible person and every possible scene. But 'Do' subs... Let's just say I have no trouble avoiding smacking my thumb with a hammer. And I jump around enthusiastically after kicking the unexpected thing in the dark. So that would seem to be a solid, 'No". But. With the right person, doing the right things, in the right place and time and possibly company, then things can work out a little differently.
