Phydeaux -> The new Fascists are... democrats. (3/17/2016 8:12:54 PM)

Interesting article, excerpt:

Here is an excellent exploration of the topic: Benito Mussolini on Fascism and Corporatism

Via the research cited in Mussolini on the Corporate State, we have a verified Mussolini statement on the fascist conception of the state’s role in the economy and society:

The Fascist State lays claim to rule in the economic field no less than in others; it makes its action felt throughout the length and breadth of the country by means of its corporate, social, and educational institutions, and all the political, economic, and spiritual forces of the nation, organised in their respective associations, circulate within the State. (p. 41).

In other words, the all-powerful central state worshipped by Reich and all the other Establishment insiders, Democrat and Republican alike, is the true culmination of fascism. So if we strip away the Orwellian Doublespeak, we find that it’s actually Reich and his fellow believers in the goodness and rightness of the all-powerful central state and central bank who are the real fascists.

The core belief of the Establishment is the central state should run everything:the state should run the mortgage industry (hey, it does–95% of all mortgages are government-backed or guaranteed); it should run the financial system via setting interest rates, buying bonds and other assets and bailing out/protecting private banks (hey, it does–thank you, Federal Reserve); it should control higher education (the central state not only funds the higher education cartel, it also owns most of the $1.4 trillion in student loan debt); it should control the economy via protecting and enforcing favored monopolies and cartels, and of course the state needs to track any domestic “threats” via surveillance and suppress any resistance to its power by force, media attacks, lawsuits, IRS investigations, social-media smear campaigns, etc.–which is precisely what the U.S. central state’s toadies, lackeys, apparatchiks, thugs, bought-off media hacks, et al. do.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is fascism, and that’s the Establishment’s America. No wonder central-state lackeys like Reich have unleashed frantic attacks against Trump and Sanders–they fear their fascist paradise of central-state-cartel-capitalism might somehow be threatened.

Interesting how your quote lists the Republicans in with the Democrats, yet you conveniently left that out of your title and analysis.

And nutsuckers are nutsuckers and felch their lying propaganda to the feebleminded who re-felch it ad nauseam. Rank and file nutsuckers are so fucking ignorant that they plagiarize other nutsuckers who professionally felch this shit and expect to be thought of as brilliant, but in fact they are mentally defective toiletlickers. And are surprised as well as taken aback that they are found out to be so, without effort.

Since Republicans are routinely accused of being fascists, that didn't really seem 'new' now does it.

Still, hillary the fascist has a nice ring don't you think?

mnottertail -> RE: The new Fascists are... democrats. (3/17/2016 11:51:07 PM)

Nah, cretinism has no ring.

Is this a new game? Insert descriptor:

Politicians are _________.

rkfdbdsm -> RE: The new Fascists are... democrats. (3/19/2016 7:44:15 AM)

I suppose both the desired totalitarian oligarchy the GOP has striven for these last few decades as well as the authoritarian socialism many the Democratic party seems to quietly espouse could be seen as fascism. Perhaps the current election cycle will produce a more centrist, dare we hope constitutionally federalist, third party! If so, we may finally find a way to limit the impact of K Street on the hill!

I suppose being bitten by a Jack Russell is the same as being bitten by a wolf, when it comes down to it.

Awareness -> RE: The new Fascists are... democrats. (3/19/2016 11:56:15 AM)

There is an ongoing censorship of ideas being practiced - ironically - by the same left-wing academics who were advocating for freedom of speech in the 50's, 60's and 70's.

Turns out what they actually meant was "freedom for our kind of speech". Michael Bloomberg - amongst others - commented on this phenomenon back in 2014: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/answer-sheet/wp/2014/05/31/bloomberg-at-harvard-blasts-ivy-league-liberals-for-trying-to-repress-conservative-ideas/

Whereas the right used "dangerous ideas", "communist" and "socialist" as justifications, the left uses "offensive", "misogynist", "trigger warnings" and "cultural appropriation" as justifications for the repression of contrary ideas.

MrRodgers -> RE: The new Fascists are... democrats. (3/19/2016 12:15:04 PM)

Yea, I guess you could say that and of course, you could...say the opposite too. This is America though and the great contradiction still holds.

The poor $40,000/yr. farmer who hates the FDR legacy because he's told to, will continue to vote in repubs, believe their small govt. fiscal, stay at home foreign policy bullshit because [he] will vote to continue the farm subsidies that FDR started and despite the fact you can count on less than one hand the number of corp. welfare kings that get 1/2 of those subsidies.

You can call it free market capitalism too [sic] even though you'd be as far off as creating an OP claiming it's the dems who are all alone in their 'new fascism.'

satanscharmer -> RE: The new Fascists are... democrats. (3/19/2016 1:40:49 PM)

To be fair, he mentions Republicans in the OP, though minimally.

It doesn't matter what label you slap on either side. People twist them to fit as they deem appropriate. At the end of the day, though, they're simply used for two purposes: to make one group sound better than they are and the other sound worse.
Personally, I'm bored with people (on both sides) accusing the other side of being fascist, communist or whatever. Mostly because a decent portion of the population quite apparently lack the understanding of the meaning behind the words they shout.

PeonForHer -> RE: The new Fascists are... democrats. (3/19/2016 1:56:06 PM)

I think I'll worry majorly about the fascism of any given political grouping when I start to hear of concentration camps, another Krystellnacht across the entire USA, thousands of people disappearing in the night at the hands of a shadowy Gestapo-type organisation, and the imminence of World War III.

You know, this thread reminds me of a man I once met who claimed he was a 'National-Socialist-Pacifist'. Can you imagine it? "Will all you Jews march into that gas chamber, please? No? Well, you should, on account of the sheer force of my moral argument. Oh well, if you don't do as I ask, I'll be jolly displeased with you. So there.'

This thread is inane.

Which has been one of my griefs here. Liberals throw the fascist nazi/fascist/misogynist/bigot label around far to often, due to the poorness of their argument. So a little fire with fire.

Made more so by you. Feel free to make it less inane by your absence.

Don't forget that America already had those camps. Ask George Takei! Or any of 1000's of other Japanese-Americans. Now we have extreme elements of our population calling for them again, this time for Muslims! And we ARE being asked to line up for dozens of things, from mandatory health care to the parenting classes and nutrition seminars some school districts are trying to require. Fascism is alive and well in too many American hearts. It's up to the rest of us to prevent it, whether it comes from the right or the left. Or both sides at once, as seems to be happening of late.

Certainly not Hillery, very little chance of it beimg Trump, are you expecting the 2nd comming of Truman?

No one is calling for concentration camps for muslims.

To equate the internment camps in the US with the death camps in Germany is obscene. The were wrong, but not patently evil.
