ok yeah, I claim artistic licence with the title, but it is not meant to be kind.

In the news right now...Ted cruz in the national enquirer accused of having an affair
DIRTY POLITICS!
SHOCKING CLAIMS: Pervy Ted Cruz Caught Cheating — With 5 Secret Mistresses!
http://www.nationalenquirer.com/celebrity/ted-cruz-sex-scandal-mistresses-cheating-claims/

“The leaked details are an attempt to destroy what’s left of his White House campaign!”

Then this happens...Ted Cruz Accuses Donald Trump of Planting National Enquirer Story About Extramarital Affairs
http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/03/ted-cruz-affairs-mistresses?mbid=social_facebook

Ted Cruz angrily dismissed a National Enquirer story Friday alleging that he had cheated on his wife, Heidi Cruz, with at least five women during their marriage, including with staffers, supporters, and possibly a sex worker. Calling the report “garbage,” “complete and utter lies,” and “a tabloid smear,” the Texas senator accused Republican front-runner Donald Trump and his “henchmen” of planting the story with the infamous tabloid.

Then this crops up....

http://www.salon.com/2016/03/25/ted_cruz_sex_scandal_story_leaked_to_national_enquirer_by_marco_rubio_ally_not_donald_trump_report_says/

Maybe Donald Trump isn’t behind the Ted Cruz “sex scandal” story leak to the National Enquirer after all.

According to The Daily Beast, “for months and months, anti-Cruz operatives have pitched a variety of #CruzSexScandal stories to a host of prominent national publications.”

One such outlet was Breitbart News, which was shown “a compilation video of Cruz and a woman other than his wife coming out of the Capitol Grille restaurant and a hotel on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” a source inside the publication told The Daily Beast. (Leave it to a politician to keep a standardized booty call schedule.)

The Breibart source confirmed that they’d received the video from “a Rubio ally,” but ultimately decided against running the story because, “There was no way to verify the claims.”

Cruz today issued a statement more or less implying Trump and “his political henchmen” planted the Enquirer expose.

Oh and then there is this sadness...
Trump retweets unflattering image of Heidi Cruz compared to Melania before Ted hits back at Donald saying 'real men don't attack women'

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump escalated his feud with Ted Cruz on Twitter Tuesday — but this time he also involved the Texas senator's wife, who hit back on Wednesday at an impromptu press conference.

The real estate mogul tweeted that the Texas senator should "be careful" or he would "spill the beans on your wife" Heidi Cruz.
"Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!," he tweeted Tuesday evening, just minutes before polls closed in Arizona. Trump tweeted and deleted a similar version of the Tweet about 10 minutes earlier.

Trump appears to be referring to a Facebook advertisement targeted to Mormons that shows Trump's wife, Melania, posing nude. That ad was produced by an anti-Trump super PAC, Make America Awesome, which has no known connection to the Cruz campaign.

In all fairness, the media is having a hard time finding five women that will admit to having sex with Ted Cruz.

In all fairness, the media is having a hard time finding five women that will admit to having sex with Ted Cruz.

Funny you should say that, hows cruz's former communications director being accused of being one of the women cruz had an affair with....by a trump supporter????

A CNN debate between a Donald Trump supporter and former Ted Cruz communications director Amanda Carpenter went off the rails Friday when the Trump supporter suddenly accused Carpenter of having an illicit affair with her former boss.

CNN’s Kate Bolduan was hosting a segment on the feud between Trump and Ted Cruz. “Are you ready for Trump to move on?” she asked Boston Herald columnist Adriana Cohen.

“Oh, absolutely I think we should move on,” she responded. “Where we should move to is The National Enquirer story that has reported that has Ted Cruz has had affairs with five mistresses, including you’ve been named as well, Amanda.”

“I don’t think that’s ‘moving on’ at all, Adriana,” an exasperated Bolduan interrupted.

“If we’re going call Donald Trump’s character into question, I would like Ted Cruz to issue a statement whether or not the National Enquirer story is true, that he has had affairs with many women, including you were named, Amanda,” Cohen repeated. “Will you denounce this story or will you confirm it?”

Bolduan stepped in to make it clear that CNN wasn’t supporting the Enquirer report. “It will come as no surprise to our viewers, CNN has no reporting on what you’re talking about coming from from The National Enquirer,” she deadpanned.

Carpenter kept her composure pretty well, considering the circumstances. “What’s out there is tabloid trash. If someone wants to comment on it, they can talk to my lawyer,” she responded.

“It’s categorically false,” she continued angrily. “You should be ashamed for spreading this smut. Donald Trump supporters should be held to account for it.”

“I’m not spreading smut,” Cohen responded.

“I will not be intimidated,” Carpenter shot back. “I will continue to make my thoughts known about Donald Trump. I’m not backing down.”

Watch above, via CNN.

Wow. Have we hit the nadir of this presidential campaign yet? I think it's going to spiral downhill from here on in.

Mind you, experience here in the UK is such that, nowadays, whenever a politician avows his support for 'traditional family values' (or similar), you know that within the month he'll be in the headlines for having humped his secretary or being caught doing something sweaty with a very young man in one of London's parks.

DesideriScuri -> RE: cat fighting conservatives. (3/26/2016 6:11:55 AM)

The longer this stuff goes on, the more I think Trump is doing this shit to mock the US election system and the GOP. It's almost like he's doing everything he can to make himself as ugly a candidate as possible. The worst part is, the people are backing him.

I simply have no idea how anyone could back Trump. It boggles my mind how someone could think, even for a moment, that he's Presidential material. How could anyone desire Trump being the leader of the US?!?

The only thing I can think is that his popularity is there only because we, as a Nation, are devolving into "Reality TV" mentality. Clinton, Sanders, O'Malley, and, pretty much, all the other GOP candidates, aren't "Reality TV" worthy (being worthy is not a good thing); Trump is the only one. I take that back. Huckabee might have been Reality TV worthy.

I can't imagine how GOP Party leadership can allow someone like Trump to run under the GOP mantle. It just blows me away.

True. It's not that I think he'll be a bad president. It's worse than that - he just doesn't across as 'president material' at all.

I keep thinking "How can anyone be serious about electing Trump?" Then I remember that this is the same country that elected George W.....not once but TWICE. Anything can happen when it comes to American politics.

One "bright" spot though....I seem to remember hearing or reading a few weeks ago that if Trump gets the nomination Jessie Ventura says he will throw his hat in the ring.

It's quite simple actually. During the Bush Administration, The GOP, in TIGHT coordination with Fox News, was all, extreme, absolute rhetoric. ALL THE TIME. John Kasich, a Fox news contributor at the time said as much. (Then of course, there is the hilarious video on Fox and Friends, of Steve Doocy accidentally revealing that he is reading DIRECTLY from an RNC memo)
If you disagreed with the Republican line, you were mocked, and labelled as unpatriotic.

WHen Obama was elected, and before he took office, Mitch McConnell said Republicans would simply obstruct him, and then blame him for lack of progress. (paraphrasing). Rather than disagreeing with Obama, they (again tightly coordinated with Fox News) have only tried to deligitimize him.

Always the most extreme rhetoric: "The President doesn't love America". "The President only loves blacks and muslims" "Death panels in the Affordable Care Act" "The President was born in Kenya".

Well, that obstruction backfired. It disenfranchised many of the Republican voters it, at the same time, energized. Those energized, but disenfranchised Republicans are now Trump supporters. His extreme rhetoric is more believable to them than his opponent's.

The Republican establishment, up until now, loved the extreme rhetoric, as long as, eventually a Republican candidate, who is committed to enriching their donors is nominated. They didn't take Trump seriously until it was too late. Now they are trying a 1968 Democrat maneuver of insurgent delegates to steal the nomination from him at the Convention.

They can take a lesson from the Democrats:

1) There were riots
2) Humphry lost by half a million votes to Nixon (which would have been considered close, except George Wallace siphoned off a whopping 10 million votes from the Republicans)

Thanks Lucy :)

Yes. Palin, is the queen of extreme rhetoric. It gets her speaking engagements, reality shows and book deals. Her anti-intellectual shtick fits right in with Trump supporters.

As for the Tea Party... That was created by Ron Paul, whose platform conflicts about 80% with Republican dogma (and the Republicanized (i.e. Ted Cruz) version of the Tea Party.

Ask Ron Paul what he thinks of Goldman Sachs :)

Something vaguely similar has happened this side of the pond, too: the Conservatives, the established right wing party, insinuated, suggested and hinted at extreme-right views for decades. Once each election was won and they had power, some extreme views got enacted, many more were watered down. But the point was that the conservatives mopped up the bulk of the extreme right wing vote because there was nobody else to vote for that had a serious chance of winning.

But now, as in the USA, the two party system looks like it's crumbling and people want the rhetoric actually put into practice. Hence UKIP.

There's a corollary for the left, too - but my dinner's cooking ....

One of the most sickening things I've seen in recent months is Ted Cruz raising a finger and saying "To God be the glory". It's evangelical code for "I'm a real Christian, honest."

However Cruz looks as fake and insincere as humanly possible while saying it. Any evangelical who falls for it is truly stupid.

so much partisan ugliness in your post I could spend too many hours saying so---the short answer is its the typical lefty diatribe of that everything we don't agree with is extreme, hateful, harmful, blameworthy, etc.---instead let me focus on the relatively easy low hanging fruit.

...Then of course, there is the hilarious video on Fox and Friends, of Steve Doocy accidentally revealing that he is reading DIRECTLY from an RNC memo...

didn't see it so I cant speak to it---but it makes me wonder if you actually saw it, or just the jon stewart version of it? you know, where truth be damned in order to either promote the left and/or get a laugh.

I understand he reported that unemployment, the debt and gas prices were high. those are rnc talking points and not facts at the time?

but more importantly...

...in TIGHT coordination with Fox News...

...again tightly coordinated with Fox News...

so this seems like a step deeper than the liberal cry of "fox news is the media arm of the republican party." it directly states communications to a specific end, if not outright collusion.

surely the evidence of that abounds and would make its own thread topic.

while youre gathering that, here's Hillary Clinton saying more or less otherwise.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/14/hillary-clinton-there-wer_n_134544.html

and surrogate ed Rendell saying similarly:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/31/clinton-surrogate-ed-rend_n_94280.html

here's a little blurb about their presidential election coverage during the time:

quote:

Fox News Channel’s coverage was more balanced toward both parties than the broadcast networks were. On FOX, evaluations of all Democratic candidates combined were split almost evenly – 51% positive vs. 49% negative, as were all evaluations of GOP candidates – 49% positive vs. 51% negative, producing a perfectly balanced 50-50 split for all candidates of both parties.

http://www.cmpa.com/releases/07_12_21_Election_Study.pdf

heres another little blurb specific to Obama:

quote:

The Pew (PEJ) report for the 2008 election cycle is out.

Among the findings?

FOXNEWS provided the most balanced cable coverage of the 2008 presidential election among major news outlets (CNN, MSNBC, FOXNEWS) and likely the most balanced of all six outlets (NBC, CBS, ABC included), although they oddly didnt release the latter three network's numbers.

BEST (FOXNEWS)
Positive Obama Stories 25%
Positive McCain Stories 22%
Negative Obama Stories 40%
Negative McCain Stories 40%

WORST (MSDNC) [note the little play on words---ever complain about them I wonder?]
Positive Obama Stories 73%
Positive McCain Stories 10%
Negative Obama Stories 14%
Negative McCain Stories 43%

TOTAL COVERAGE (all media added together - 2,412 stories from 48 outlets)
Positive Obama Stories 36%
Positive McCain Stories 14%
Negative Obama Stories 29%
Negative McCain Stories 57%

http://www.yelp.com/topic/new-york-foxnews-is-the-most-balanced-election-coverage-pew-research-centers-project-for-excellence-in-journalism-2008

as far as since then? sorry--I actually watch fox news so the idea of that its all-bashing-Obama-all-the-time, which is what you clearly stating, is dead wrong. there are plenty of people on fox who cant stand him, and you can tell who they are. there are also people on fox who love him, and you can tell who they are. but even on the shows hosted by the people who cannot stand the guy, they will have Obama supporters on and I have also heard over and over again, dyed in the wool Obama haters praise him when due.

i'll look for that new thread about the tight coordination/collusion of fox news with the republican party...
