What is the most romantic thing you have seen in a movie or read in a book? Real-life experiences need not apply. I'm going to wait for a few replies before I submit mine, because I'm still deciding.

Max is gay and as such is sent to Dachau concentration camp under the Nazi regime. He tries to deny he is gay and gets a yellow label (the one for Jews) instead of pink (the one for gays). In camp he falls in love with his fellow prisoner Horst, who wears his pink label with pride. After Horst is shot, Max has to drag his body to the lime pits. He then restarts moving rocks, but then jumps in the pit, exchanges the coats, and rushes the electric fence to retrieve Horst's cap. The nazi's would torture gay men by taking their hats off, throwing them on the fence, and making them retrieve them. This of course kills Max, but it also shows his coming to terms with his sexuality and his love for Horst. This is the play that brought the use of the pink triangle in concentration camps public.

*It's not a "moment", but I'd say Bridges of Madison County* is pretty romantic (as well as quite morally ambivalent lol).**

In the movie Wuthering Heights, after Cathy (the heroine) dies in childbirth, and Heathcliff goes almost insane and wanders the hills surrounding their home, screaming her name and crying, as if he's lost his own life as well, along with losing his lifelong love and soulmate. It makes me cry and cry and cry, every time I see it. I like the 1970 version (w/actor Timothy Dalton playing HeathCliff), the best. It's a moving, very tragic and romantic film. - Susan

The final scene in "Breakfest at Tiffany's" Where Holly Golightly runs and finds the cat with no name. Its such a good analogy of how her and the cat are so much alike and it just says so much to me.

It's a Wonderful Life...when George starts to leave Marys house... the phone rings.. he comes in....then they are on the phone together... He doesn't want to give in and love her....they are both crying...she drops the phone...its so passionate... mmmm ~Andrea

"Sense and Sensibility" After carrying Herself in a most unselfish, dignified, Proper manner, despite Her heart being broken into a thousand pieces, When Eleanor finds out that Mr. Farris is NOT married as She thought...but he comes to pledge his undying, love and devotion for Her. I cry every time I see that movie-such love and romance, and passion. (and all without sweaty slithering grinding bodies) <though Goddess knows there's always a place for THAT as well > hehe MMNH

Hm, I'm not much of a romantic person, but after thinking I'd have to say the ending of Con Air, when Cage gets off the plan and finally gets to see his wife and daughter for the first time in years, and he walks over to them and hands his daughter her bunny and finally hugs them.
