When I first joined this site ('06), the reputation already seemed to be running 50-50 (at least from the people I knew).

No, the trouble here is: for too long, this has been seen as the "private playground" of a select few and the people of whom they approve. Bounty, being a baseball fan, I know that you can appreciate what many can't: sometimes, it's about addition by subtraction (removing a player that's "cancer in the clubhouse").

Let's face it: some people can brighten a room (or a website) by leaving it. It's a shame that those that truly are distractions and subtractions can't get more help, leaving.
