(It's dot net by the way).

DesFIP -> RE: Jeeeeebus FUCKING H!!!!! (4/5/2016 8:34:21 PM)

Not yesterday, it was snowing. Heavy snow, not powdery fun snow.

epiphiny43 -> RE: Jeeeeebus FUCKING H!!!!! (4/5/2016 8:40:07 PM)

I'm on the bike path more than the highway. Stupid Walking, head down on the iPhone is the rule, not the exception. Even outdoors, on an expensive vacation, more are stuck in their digital meaningless texts to unoriginal friends than actually open their eyes and take in nature or clearly present dangers to life and limb. Self-driving cars will mean they only put down the phone to wipe their ass and move food in or out of the microwave. And someone will invent a one hand toilet paper dispenser, or bidets will finally happen in the US.

I only managed a few days on the bike path before the beautiful 60 degree spring weather turned to snow and slush and brrrr. Right now I'm restlessly waiting for at least slightly warmer weather and then hell yeah I'll be out on the bike paths.

I didn't go check on poonstarter, but it did occur to me to do so - then I read your second post [:D]

Yeah, they go outside, to send another tweet or put some meaningless drivel like "going outside" on their FB wall.

When we go shopping, the OH goes in the supermarket while I sit like a lemon in the car watching and waiting.
I swear that nearly half the people that walk in the shop have a phone glued to their ear or they are aimlessly wandering towards the door texting or tweeting or doing something interactive.
And I see those same people coming out of the shop 20+ mins later twiddling with their phone and I bet they didn't stop while they were shopping.
When we go into town I see that same behaviour - people wandering about or sitting on benches constantly on their phone.
We had a lodger for a while last year and the only time you ever saw her without her phone was when she was in the shower or actually asleep. The rest of her time, every waking second, she was on her phone.

What is it with people these days??
Modern technology has turned the next generation into gibbering idiots that haven't a clue.
If they can't switch it on, they are bored and helpless for the most part.
Battery flat = brain dead. Not a clue. No self-motivation. No imagination.

The whole scenario of modern living reminds of the back-end of the movie Wall.E where everyone lives and dies in a remote controlled chairs and artificial environments.

I shudder to think what happens when my kids get to my age.... it's frightening!!

Go to the weather channel and check the weather in zip 92626.
I am sitting on the beach.[:)]

Yeah, I have seen a group of people in the tavern sitting around a table all on their phones. They're drinking in bar and not talking to eachother.

I admit I love my Iphone. However, I love unplugging and getting outside just as much or more (although I don't' really unplug. I use it to track my miles.) It is a strange phenomenon. My sons would be sitting next to their girlfriends on the couch while texting them. I mean, look up already and have a freaking conversation.

This alone should help you to understand what a jarring experience it was to move from Paso Robles, CA to AK. I still laugh at MP from the night we came home from TGIF (Fresno) and he kept telling me how cold it was because the temp was sixty (F).

It did snow there once when we lived there. Completely comical. People were out on the street trying to do snow removal with brooms.

This is one of the reasons I call the cell phone the electronic leash. I can't remember the last munch I went to where various people weren't on their phones at one point or another. HUGE advantage to going to activities like game night. Past the curtain, no phones. It's kind of awesome.

I find the title of this thread, offensive and disrespectful.
If you don't like the rules, then get out.
We run a tight ship.
You want to change things. Run your own country.

Greta75 -> RE: Jeeeeebus FUCKING H!!!!! (4/6/2016 7:26:36 PM)

I was thinking, before there was cellphones with so much information accessible by it. What I used to do is carry a book with me everywhere. I read even when I am walking from one place to another on the streets. Not watching where I am going and bumping into lamp post was normal. I read while traveling on any mode of transport, I would read in between traffic lights when I was driving. I even try to read when running on a thread mill and I always read when I eat. These days, I still read a book or a physical newspaper when I eat.

I've been doing this since before phone exists. The only difference is, a phone can keep a more variety of things to read, and now I always read from my phone.

I think it's like, staying distracted. Like I find walking from one location to another location boring. It goes by faster if I read. Same with travel time to anywhere. And eating seem more pleasurable with entertainment than full focus on food.

I just acquired the poonstarter domain name (but I can be bought).

shiftyw -> RE: Jeeeeebus FUCKING H!!!!! (4/7/2016 7:43:34 AM)

I love my phone.
I love my Facebook.
I don't give a fuck about people who want to judge me for it.
I go outside plenty. I have friends in all corners of the globe. I don't care if you think it's meaningless- I think it's sweet to be talking to my best friend who moved to South Korea. I think it's awesome I can see what my mom is doing on her vacation in Peru. I think it's sick that my grandfather was able to connect with other WWII vets online. I think it's great when I can talk about Kink online because I live in a rural area with virtually no community in real time.

People who don't think technology is valuable can get bent. I don't think it's shallow at all that I want my friends in CA to see my new puppy or how beautiful the fall is here in NH. I'm a photographer, I can't imagine not being able to share with my friends my photos.

We run a very successful business- we connect with our fans on so many levels and it's so important and interesting to be able to do so.

I actually went outside twice already today and it isn't even noon. so yes. I do still go outside, everyday really.
