Well...define authentic. Anyone can post an ad, claim to be a domme and hop onto skype and then disappear. Did you check for reviews posted online? A number search? Email search? Photo search (to make sure they aren't stolen photos?). Did she have a website? Did you check for any of this?
No, I did not. But I assure you next time I will do all this before I send them money.

Most pro-dommes will require a deposit in a convenient and discreet method in order to schedule a session. It doesn't have to be paypal-in fact, most will not use paypal because of the company's stance on the adult industry.
Well, most people on this site will disagree with you. They think if you send ANY money to a Pro-Domme before meeting her it's a scam. Even if I did what you say, and then send the money online, they still call me "stupid."

I require deposits before I meet with anyone.
I know, this is standard practice. I hope LadyPact and Stef reads this. That way they will stop calling people stupid.

OP:

1.Fetlife is ten times worse, not only do they have very mean people there but they have a lot of scammers or "fake" people there. I met one of the fake people in my area, he said he was a girl, when I met him for coffee, no girl, it was a guy.

2.I have only known a couple of dominiatrix's they didn't tell people to send them money through their paypal accounts, they always did it discretely upon services.

3. I used to be part of a BDSM club and paypal closed the club's account when they found out what the business was.

4.true life submissive story:

when I was on fet I joined submissive and slave groups just to talk to other submissives and slaves. I'll never forget this on one of the groups. There was this submissive that classified herself as a slave, was into subfrenzy, instead of getting to know the individual she agreed to be a slave to right off the hop, she ended up being taken, he got her car, her bank account information, a bunch of money and part ownership of her house before he took off. She back to the group told her story and when I asked straight out why don't you go to the police, she said her "Master" said it was against the law for a slave to go to the police. She was immediately called names, some of us pointed out that she was duped and she needed to go and try to fix things.

This is what you remind me of, being duped by people that say they are "pro dommes."

Even I grow weary of these pro-dommes threads scattered everywhere every few days and throwing in my muffin crumbs worth. No matter if it’s this site-collarspace.com, fetlife.com collarme.org etc

How to spot a fake pro domme should be lumped into one thread on those aforementioned sites. Rather than us have too type variants of advice time and time again.

I only comment because money scams, sugar this, pro domme that, phishing emails from everywhere (eg more than those threes sites – all sites), random calls from peoples banks, Microsoft, and so on, are very, very common and hundreds of thousands of people fall prey to them every year and have done since the beginning of time.

There are actually no real absolute solutions but the situation could be managed better.
But as minimum requirement they should verify themselves with their username and site name.
A good pro domme will take time to advise people on eg the forums regarding all matters and subjects without hinting or demanding for cash.
So you are looking for some one like that.
Anything else avoid.

I view anything non genuine as a scam. Could be a man/women after cash, a tit picture, married and at it, bad stereotype, grotesque caricature and so on. But as you mentioned only pro dommes I will leave my answer as is.

Someone on here once said, might have been ladypact, that for her to talk to someone for a seshion then they want a small donation to a charity (legitimate one) as opposed to Evil MUFFIN Corp

As kirk would say Double red alert..or more generic words red flag
Anyone saying they want cash - all claim to be genuine
Anyone with no pictures, identity - all claim to be genuine

ladypact mentions ToS prevents people from telling you that you are stupid. I think all these sites TOS should be more robust and do more to protect the gullible and easily led. No it will not solve scams or I am married fibbers or I need money for an operation to have the pixies removed from my head (shh pixies only kidding), i am stuck in a foreign country and need cash as all my cash and passport were stolen, disaster scams, charity scams, lottery scams, and on and on it goes.

Some of the more cunning scammers will stream some naff video clip through skype etc. So bare(better than bear) in mind interaction must be two ways and in real time.
Not this is me streaming a fake clip online and when you ask it the day of the week, or capital of ,muffin land, it continues to drool and wink and oils its parts up unaware you asked it anything

don't forget the Africa or Middle East Scam

some chicky sends emails or messages to people saying they are in an abusive circumstance and can you please send me money so I can leave the country and live with you?

also more locally for me there seems to be some house/apartment scam where someone offers a house or a condo at an extreme lowly price, in return if the renter can upkeep the place. all they need is X amount of money for the down payment and they can move in. meanwhile renters have done this and find out later on the house that is offered to them isn't even there's, they just took an outside picture of it and posted it online trying to get money out of people. But people have seem to fallen for this scam. The internet could be a marvelous thing but at the same time there are people that manipulate it's use for their own selfish gains.

Yes, but the rest of his posting doesn't sound like who I think you are talking about. The butthurt is coming more from entitlement rather than having his intelligence questioned. And he doesn't have near the same level of arrogance.

Although, if we are talking about the same person, its interesting to note that he has been absent for a while...

So, we have a thread about don't trust people on the internet, which leads you to suggest to trust people on the internet. That's what members "verifying" themselves comes down to. Thanks, I'll stick with my method of meeting people in person.

I would tend to agree, as Katya demonstrated. I'm not in the business but she saved me a heck of a lot of keystrokes. If it were me, I'd be looking for those reviews, community connections, etc, just to be more assured that somebody wasn't going poof.

quote:

I think you might have me confused with LadyConstanze. I believe she's mentioned it before. While I don't do it, I'm not saying it's a bad idea. No 'category' of people, (gender, kink orientation, etc) are immune to folks who want to waste the other person's time. (They like to chat but aren't always as dedicated to showing up.) I'm not against what method works to avoid that. Everybody's time is important, right?

Sort of with you. Sort of not.

Every club I've ever been in always has that neat sheet of paper that they require you to sign, stating something to the following effect:

"I verify that I am an adult. I understand that _________ is an establishment where people engage in BDSM and other alternative practices. I am responsible for any activities that I voluntarily engage in and understand that I am doing so at my own risk..."

The protection part has to be from people who can't respect that consent is a thing. (That cool ~partial~ list that I used above.) I don't think you can protect people from things like catfishing, "Master doesn't call anymore now that we've had sex", or people that try to get money from you on the internet. Believe it or not, our vanilla counterparts go through these same lessons growing up, so we have to expect that kinky people will, too.

What I find myself asking is why a dominant man is sending money to so many pro-dommes.

That's a good point.

When he signed up six months ago, he was an 18-year-old sub college student. He updated his profile to say he used to be submissive.

Like the majority of submissive males on this site, he could not get the level of response he was expecting.

So he decided to call himself Dominant. Happens all the time. He thought that would be a bigger draw. Some women do the very same thing, knowing that calling themselves Dominant instead of a switch causes more of a feeding frenzy.

It is not much different in practice from vanilla men coming onto this site, figuring that by saying they are Dominant, this will give them a Golden Ticket into instant Nookieland, or at the very least, getting wimmens to send nekkid pics. (Just as S/switch men are notorious for maintaining both a Dom and a sub profile)

Speaking of on-line scams, the oldest one in the book is for a man to demand that a woman verify to him that she is indeed a woman, without so much as making a proper introduction.

All of this scamming works both ways, whether done to rip off others financially, by using coercion tactics, or to perpetrate other deceptions.

Well, it's one thing to not know what your orientation is, or to have it shift. At least he didn't set up a separate Dom profile in addition to his original submissive one.

I think it is pretty obvious that OP is caught in the grips of sub fever.

A friend of mine was a bedroom Dom during his 10-year marriage, thereabouts. His wife wanted more from him than that, and they ended up divorcing. Then he became a S/switch for a good number of years, before finally accepting the fact that what he really wanted was to be submissive to a Mistress, which is what he has been over the past 15 years. It was a process for him to come to terms with his desire nature.

I know a Dominant lady who got fed up with the types of male subs she kept encountering. Male switches were not much better, in that they were mostly bottoms looking for fetish delivery systems to provide them with kinky sex. She began calling herself a Switch, which greatly reduced the number of vanilla fantasist newbies contacting her -- a lot of wannabe slaves did not even bother to contact her. She met a "Dom" who was actually a bedroom submissive, so that ended up working out for her for a time, although they didn't stay together for other reasons unrelated to D/s.

I guess what I'm saying is that what matters is whether you are sincere in what you say you are seeking without having some hidden agenda to promote.

Ok, pumpkin....let me explain a few things in one message because this whole "I'm a victim" is getting really old.

quote:

MissKatya
FieryOpal

You both didn't read what I wrote. I wrote:
"What they do is they collect all your banking information so they can "wire" the money into your account. Well, guess what?! They take money out."
You just read 1/2 the sentence and then assumed I was a Pro-Domme.

I did see what you wrote-I made it a point to mention this sentence for a reason.

I'm assuming that "they"=pro-dommes. If my assumption is correct, then they want your banking information to wire money INTO your account and that implies you that you are the dom/domme.

So, now that we are past that, let's go onto your next gem of wisdom.

quote:

Because since I got webcam verification I thought she was authentic.

Well...define authentic. Anyone can post an ad, claim to be a domme and hop onto skype and then disappear. Did you check for reviews posted online? A number search? Email search? Photo search (to make sure they aren't stolen photos?). Did she have a website? Did you check for any of this?

Even a fly by night domme will have some form of an internet footprint, whether it's a phone number, a skype name or a stolen photo.

quote:

I don't know if you realize this or not, but many Dommes require a paypal deposit before meeting them. It's standard practice.

I have to correct you on this, sparky. Most pro-dommes will require a deposit in a convenient and discreet method in order to schedule a session. It doesn't have to be paypal-in fact, most will not use paypal because of the company's stance on the adult industry.

And with that being said, I'll go into my personal experience with pro-domination.

I require deposits before I meet with anyone. I also have a website, a heavy internet presence, a searchable phone number, reviews, message board interaction and 16 years experience under my belt. If someone wanted to search me and see if I am legit, all they have to do is pull up my name.

75% of the time, those who contact me already have experience with seeing a pro-domme so they already know where to search for a domme and they know what to look for in finding a reputable pro-domme. The other 25% who are novices still know how to do basic homework on covering their ass.

So when someone contacts me and we mesh well in our interests, the next step is to schedule a session and leave a deposit. If someone doesn't feel comfortable leaving a deposit because they are concerned that I may "scam" them, they have any one of the options mentioned above to verify my existence.

And guess what? It works.

So while you are correct that most pro-dommes require a deposit, it doesn't take much to make sure that the person you are contacting is not going to fuck you over...Unless that is your thing and you purposely go out of your way to look for shady characters to willingly hand money over to.

As the saying goes, "a fool and his money are soon parted"...

This... And also if I am not wrong, you can contact Paypal directly if you suspect you have been frauded. They will investigate, verify if wrong-doing has occurred, and work to get your money back. Hell, you can even contact your credit card and dispute the charge, who will also take months to find out if your claim is warranted, but will refund on success. . I find it really hard to believe that in this day and age, a person gets completely scammed out of their money. Unless of course, they shove a wad of twenties in an envelope and mail it to a post office box...
