Happy to see for once, a decent peaceful religion gets legal status! Sick of all the acknowledgement of psycho religions like Islam and Scientology!

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster held the world's first legally recognised marriage in New Zealand on Saturday, with the offbeat movement hailing it as a milestone toward acceptance as a real religion.

Church adherents call themselves pastafarians, wear colanders on their heads, revere pirates and believe the world was created by a giant deity made of spaghetti.

But while they have a love of pasta-based puns and celebrate holidays such as "Talk Like a Pirate Day", followers insist their religion is no joke.

New Zealand officials agree, giving Wellington-based pastafarian Karen Martyn the legal right to conduct marriages last month after ruling the church was based on genuine philosophical convictions.

Status: offline 		Well ok. But just as long as they allow some room for apostasy and don't believe that all non-believers...should be killed and they get 72 virgins in heaven if they die trying.

You see the problem inherent to most religious faith that they want to avoid here, when the truly pious believe that 75 years here, in real life, if lived according to their gospels, is just preparation for a paradise for all eternity in heaven.

I actually do feel more comfortable saying this on a Pastafarian thread.

Status: offline 		They are trying to say, all religions are man-made! So if Christianity and Islam is no joke, so is Pastafarian. And I'm totally for some new cool religions sprouting out. So sick of the horrible 72 virgins, sounds like human trafficking in heaven of the sex trade. Or the crazily boring heaven of Christianity. Or the hell I am going to because I am "supposingly" Buddhist. I mean, by default I am Buddhist, and I gotta burn hell notes for my parents when they pass away so they can be rich in hell. *eyes roll*, but its true! I gotta do all that!

At least Pastafarian heaven will be flowing with unlimited beer for all to drink!

Who wants virgins in heaven anyway? They don't know how to do anything. Shouldn't it be 72 sluts in heaven?
