ShaharThorne -> May Roll Call!!! (5/1/2016 9:16:12 AM)

*singing* First of May, first of May, outdoor fucking begins today!

Well, got the last 4 teeth extracted last Monday and probably got a dry socket where the #5 tooth (right upper jaw) was. Will drop in on the dentist tomorrow to see what he wants to do. He calls me the perfect patient because I don't squirm around and get upset (its the sadomasochist in me). I usually don't get pain after the extractions but where the #5 tooth was is sore like crazy and is also making my lower jaw hurt. Also got the last of the fillings done to the last 4 teeth in the lower jaw. Now it's just the healing process before I get fitted for an upper denture and a lower partial. This means that I am going to be stuck with a soft diet. Got yogurt, sugar free puddings, mashed potatoes and ensure drinks. What I would give for a nice medium rare ribeye right now...

Mom is going to be busy this month. She has a mammogram tomorrow afternoon, the Pulmonary doctor (and tests) on the 5th and the urologist on the 25th. In between times, my brother is setting up beehives on the property so I have been planting flower seeds between rainstorms.

If you keep up with the diabetes thread I have in the Health section, I have been diagnosed with prediabetes. I knew I had it but it took a couple of more blood tests to convince the doctor that I was right. Taking 500mg of metformin now and watching the sugar intake (no more cookies but I was begging my SIL for some brownies she made for the Jr. High dance that got canceled due to a nasty storm and even had tornado warnings that night).

Still no love life. Been working on more afghans for relatives for Christmas. Hopefully June I can order the last of the yarn for an uncle's afghan since Walmart quit carrying that particular color.

Well, back to crocheting for my cousin's stepdaughter. She is going to love the afghan I am working on (already got his daughters' done).

Oh...Happy Beltane and bright blessings for everyone!!!

Good luck keeping the sugar down. It's addictive.

I'm still using the cane. I wouldn't be shocked if I'm on it for another six months. The thigh muscles are beginning to recover but the calf muscles are real slow.

With us everything is still crazy, Harvey continues to grow and has reached Great Dane proportions, I seriously doubt that we rescued a Dobie, he looks like one but he's just too large, he has stopped eating our furniture and ripping everything, we can now leave computers and iPads on tables without them being flung against walls. As a result of the dogs playing tug of war (Monty never took part, he's a lazy sod) Kia slipped a disk (with 12 she's not a young Doberwoman anymore but refuses to acknowledge that fact), so she's on rest at the moment and she is not very pleased about it and lets us know.
The cats are very pleased to have a new dog slave and continue to taunt other cats (apart from having brought us another cat, a female stray, was already spayed so that's a good thing) while then seeking shelter underneath the Dobies and hissing at the "evil strange cats"

Since March we have another rescue, a human one, a homeless guy who was very sick and keeling over, the dogs found him, originally we just intended to let him recover a bit and help him to get back into the system, he had that endless repeat cycle of lost job due to an accident, then lost flat as he couldn't pay the rent, without an address he lost benefits... After seeing how it works and how they treat them, we decided to just let him stay a bit longer and he's actually fabulous, started to decorate and renovate the house when he felt better because he said he's so grateful, he had given up. The only problem is that he's a bit of a magpie and drags in all sorts of stuff he thought could be useful for us, but I really don't want to use cooking utensils from heaven knows where and I got all the mixers and blenders I could possibly need, but I understand that if you lived on the streets for 3 years, you see things a bit differently and possessions are security.
Apart from that, having him around is really good, because my godmother had a stroke early this year and I'm flying a lot to see her, so I always got somebody to look after the dogs while I'm away and other half doesn't need to take time off.

So the usual madness continues

ShaharThorne diabetes is hard my owner strugles with it too. its not just the straight sugars but starches and when you eat them as well. jicama and sweet potatoes are good to substitute as is having good proteins before bed to keep the blood sugar lower. eating small frequent meals or snacks helps if you keep them ballanced its hard to change but you can do it and still enjoy eating.
the major dental work being done now is great the healing can begin now can have the meat just have to cut it very very small or do it in a pressure cooker to get it very tender will taste the same just suck on it for the flavor ,not quite the same as having a regular steak.
i hope all goes well with your moms dr visits and no surprises there.
with kind regards

Everything checked out at the Pulmonary doctor so she does not have to return for at least 2 years. She does have an ultrasound this morning (they tried to scheduled it yesterday but Mom told them no, today was fine) of her urinary system for the urologist before we go shopping for Mother's Day dinner fixin's.

Mom has been suffering from a serious sinus discharge for over a year now and she has seen several doctors about it. They would prescribe antibiotics for it and nothing would change. She even had scopes done by a surgeon and an ENT doctor and they could not tell what was wrong. I decided to get some Zyrtec for myself because I can't stand some tree pollens. I suggested she try it for a week at least...she has been clear since then...damn doctors need to get their shit together and realize some people can be allergic to shit, not have a bloody disease (though she does have a certain hernia in her food tube that the GI doc is watching)!

I finally got through to my MHMR caseworker that told her I need a psychological evaluation done for gastric bypass surgery. She is setting it up and will get back to me for when I can take it (it must be signed off by a MD or PhD). I can't remember when was the last time I took one (she says it was when I was admitted for services, back in'09...time for a new one).

Clip, I understand the starches and such. I can't stand sweet potatoes though. I am taking my metformin faithfully and getting more active (if you call yard work and gardening being active). I got some bulbs to plant this afternoon when we get back from town and tomorrow is the peach house where I can get from fresh produce that I can nibble on at least. My brother is turning beekeeper on us and will supply me with honey when he can (I do honey mainly in my hot teas instead of sugar or sweetners). The reason I have taken up gardening is because he wants to set up hives on our place (hence all the seeds, plants and bulbs, need more daffodils though).
