As far 'give and take', I'm sure you've heard him say that he will build a border wall with Mexico and make pay for them wall. Let's not debate whether or not he'll reconsider his stance, because I want to bring up another issue with this wall. Building a border wall with Mexico is implausible. The resources, time, and money it would take are astronomical. Estimates are in the tens of billions for just building the wall. Forget about the resources it would take to protect and maintain a wall (~2000 miles in its entirety).

$10's of Billions? Just for shits and giggles, let's say that the cost for building the wall and protect/maintain it comes to $100B over 10 years. Let's also say that it takes $50B to build and $5B a year to protect/maintain. You're talking about a line item from a budget of $3.95T (FY2015), and estimates are higher every year after. Even if we had to pay it all up front and in 2015, that's still <1/39th of the overall budget. FFS, simply add the responsibility for building it and manning it to the DoD and I doubt they'd even notice $10-20B being diverted.

EDIT: If you saw that last line about Trump's campaign policy, please ignore it. It was unnecessary, and I don't want to turn this thread into a flame war.

Trump has all these ideas, but when it comes to implementing it, with proper advisory, his fluid. One thing we all know, Trump is fluid. His positions changed. People are upset that he has no fix positions and use that against him. But to me, that's what business men do. They go for pragmatism in the end, that is what that will be consistent about Trump. And that's the kind of President that would make a good President for the US. Because Pragmatism is gonna lower debt.

Yes, he's fluid, like diarrhea. [:'(]

Trying to equate Trumps lack of political experience with a teenager is just plain dumb when his lack of experience is one of his better qualifications.

The mind just boggles at the thought of an inexperienced man at the helm given the state of the world, right now. The middle east, alone, is a powder keg waiting to go off in the faces of all of us. It takes a *lot* of knowledge even to begin to understand the nuances involved - thus, the small differences in political strategy that could mean the difference between war (or even bigger war) and peace. Trump is simply not up to the job. Electing him as POTUS would be like employing a particularly large, stupid and aggressive bull to manage a china shop.

DesideriScuri I consider you a reasonable man with a conservative way of thinking... but not a fanatic. I hope I am not putting you on the spot but the question I am going to ask is of importance in the coming election.

If, as it looks likely, Trump gets the nomination will you vote party over your misgivings? If not will you just not vote or consider voting for Clinton?

We don't even have to wait until the elections. As the nominee, he is going to start getting CIA briefings.

Horseshit. Every President we've had since Reagan has been.

Trump is a bully. Trump is a drama llama and attention whore.

We've lost credibility with many, many countries over political bluster with little to no follow through by Obama. Trump and his tantrums would take care of any shreds of credibility we have left.

You might be able to make the case that the Bushes had a little mettle but I don't. As far as the Clintons & Obama go they have been big pussies and have shown to have no presidential qualities at all.

You will also need to build a huge wall along the Canada-US border cuz those commie Canadians are allowing Syrian refugees in there, dontcha know.. [8|]

That's why Trump already said, his VP must be someone with political experience and can get along with the congress.

The man is a leader, he knows how to hire the right people for the right jobs to give him the right advice.

I wouldn't worry about his lack of political experience, as I think he'll be a fast learner. His already learning how to maneuver around politics for his current leading position.

Trump ain't gonna be chest thumping through congress. If you think he chest thump his way through his own business, you must be crazy. Everything is about negotiating a middle ground, gotta give and take.

I just don't understand why people seriously believe his this idiot who doesn't know what his doing. Just because his not diplomatic? Everybody is too used to slick slimey politicians with honeyed tongue.

He knows how to hire the right people? is that what you just said???

well for a guy that has said he was self-financing his campaign, he wasnt beholding to anyone, couldnt be bought like all the other politicians.. he goes out today hiring some Wall Street 1%er, the exact person he said at the start he wouldnt have anything to do with!
What a lying piece of shite he is.. he is going to be worse for the US & the world than that twit Bush was! [>:] [>:] [>:]

When did Trump say he didn't want anything to do with anybody from Wall Street? Trump is the last person who would distance himself from Wall Street.

Yea, because what I notice in America is that white people call some things racist that minority races in other places in the world don't even consider it racist. So that's what I mean. That white people call everything racist when it's not racist. Especially left leaning white people.
Wanting to deport illegal aliens is not racist. Infact I think to most other countries, calling foreigners "Illegal Aliens" is a derogatory offensive word for illegal foreigners. Only non-offensive in the US, as government seem to use that word.

If Illegal foreigners were referred to as "Illegal Aliens" over here, man, there would be outcry of racism, for sure! Because they are human beings from another country and not Aliens from OuterSpace! And our depiction of Aliens from Outerspace are often not pretty. Calling someone an Alien tend to be offensive in our part of the world.

English is not my mother tongue, but it is the main language I speak at home and around here. My second language is Mandarin, my third and fourth language is teochew and hokkien.
It's just that, as with different English speaking countries in the world, we bastardised English to our own way of phrasing things.
It's like China Mandarin and our Mandarin. Is very very different too.

China people often puzzled at our sentence structure and the way we phrase things. We don't even use the same words for many many things in Mandarin.
And then you have Taiwanese Mandarin who's accent is similar to us, but writing totally different from us. They still write in old school Mandarin.

I just can't bring myself to vote for any of them. My conscience would literally kill me if I did.

They all horrify me to no end!

I won't vote for Trump. He's a misogynist, hater, hypocrite and bigot. I won't vote for Hillary. She's a liar, cheat and a hypocrite. And Bernie is a socialist and I have a desire to keep as much money of mine that I earn. If I want to share it, I'll do so on my own, thankyouverymuch.

This election has me fearful for our country and the world. It's come to the point where I feel almost nothing for other humans anymore due to the stupidity that runs rampant these days.

I actually see it as, he has the freedom of choosing who's donations he wants to accept, because he finances his own campaign.
His not dependent on them. So his not controlled by them.
Huge difference from the others.
I mean it's Trump. Who the hell can control him and tell him what to do? Pleeaassse!
People are freaking out about him because he won't sing to their tune, he can't be controlled.

As do I.

Whether or not his views appeal to every single person on the planet....I think it's fairly obvious that not one single persons views in this forum appeal to everyone on this forum.

Yet, as far as I can tell, no one here is intent on starting a war, destroying medicaid or eliminating SSI for everyone under 40.

All you have to do is read the guys book(s). I hate to tell you folks but, he's playing this entire thing out EXACTLY as he describes how to negotiate and win at deal making....in his books.

Ask for 20, hope for 12 and be thrilled that the other side was so taken aback that they offer 15 in hopes you won't demand more.

I remember the first time I read about this guy back in the early 80's. I was on a flight to the east coast (from the west coast) and there was this article, fascinating, about some young developer who bought a shit hole property on West 57th street, petitioned the city to rename the street "The Avenue of the America's" (successfully).

Then he built a building on it....a truly spectacular building. Jonny Carson bought half a floor (for insane pricing per sf), other celebs paid stupid money for their condos....and Trump kept the top two floors for his own home.

After selling all the condos, he made enough to pay all of the construction costs, all his capital gains, realtor fees and, ended up owning the remaining 30 some floors of office and 7 floors of retail (that he rented out at then, the highest prices per sf on Earth).

I read that and started laughing uncontrollably because on a (vastly) smaller scale, I'd done similarly on a few (very small) RE deals myself (all while being told it couldn't be done....with people telling me after I'd done it "well....you won't be able to do THAT again".....and of course....I did).

And over the years, like him, I've screwed up a few deals, lost some....in a few cases significant amounts (to me anyway).

The guy's sharp. He reminds me of PT Barnum.

(I Looooooooove PT Barnum).

Will he make a great Prez?

Time will tell....but I can say this without hesitation.....I'll take a 67 year old businessman who has, nearly entirely by himself (he had some very good teaching by his father in the biz...and a few family loans that I doubt anyone I know....or myself....could qualify for) made his fortune (whatever the number is), over a one term Senator (Obama) or a nincompoop who truly expected you to believe her ignorance when asked about wiping out her emails by saying "what....you mean like, with a cloth?"

He'll settle down just fine and, the guy knows what a budget is.

I'll take that over a woman who has never run even a lemonade stand in her life, and an 80 year old man who wants to send free cheese to everyone on Earth.....every day of the week.

I would have preferred Kasich....but he ain't running.

mousekabob -> RE: Cruz drops out? (5/5/2016 7:17:25 PM)

PT Barnum was a shill. Do we really want a shill as president??? Seriously???
