Here is the list of the voluntary recall.
Posted on the FDA website.

http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm498841.htm?source=govdelivery&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery

PASCO, Wash. – As a precaution, CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington is expanding its voluntary recall of frozen organic and traditional fruits and vegetables. We are performing this voluntary recall in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) because these products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

This expanded recall of frozen vegetables includes all of the frozen organic and traditional fruit and vegetable products manufactured or processed in CRF Frozen Foods' Pasco facility since May 1, 2014. All affected products have the best by dates or sell by dates between April 26, 2016 and April 26, 2018. These include approximately 358 consumer products sold under 42 separate brands, the details of which are listed below. Products include organic and non-organic broccoli, butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, corn, edamame, green beans, Italian beans, kale, leeks, lima beans, onions, peas, pepper strips, potatoes, potato medley, root medley, spinach, sweet potatoes, various vegetable medleys, blends, and stir fry packages, blueberries, cherries, cranberries, peaches, raspberries, and strawberries. For a complete list of affected products, see below.

"manufactured or processed in CRF Frozen Foods' Pasco facility since May 1, 2014. "

since 2014?????

I think avoiding those products for the next few years would be a good idea.. once listeria is found in a facility it seems to come back again & every batch of food needs to be tested..

When I read about this I was wondering how much of that food is already consumed. How long does frozen food get stored in stores?

Yes, I am crazy about feathered creatures. I have a dozen chickens, 3 ducks, 5 geese, and 2 parakeets.

Revise that number. Just got 14 new chicks and 5 turkeys.

It is worth noting that the release carries this notice:

For Immediate Release

May 2, 2016

The 2014 date raises the question; when did they know? And
the second question; how "voluntary" is this recall notice at this time?

I would say its not voluntary at all, since this has been going on for years.. and once a facility has listeria, it sticks around pretty much forever.. You cant get rid of it, the experience with Blue Bell ice cream (here in TX) taught me that, they are still fighting it & they almost went out of business due to it.. You couldnt pay me to eat that..

seems the first case for the frozen veggies started back in 2013..

"The outbreak making headlines today began in 2013 with one illness, followed by five more in 2015 and two in 2016.

he thinks that "resident" listeria caused the outbreak. Rather than "transient" bacteria that contaminate a food and move through a processing system with it, resident bacteria establish themselves somewhere in the processing plant and persist over several years.
"The organism is quite hardy," he says.

Listeria is deadly.

Although much less common than other foodborne pathogens like salmonella or E. coli, listeria is the most lethal.

Most healthy immune systems can keep an infection at bay, but if the bug makes it into the bloodstream, it causes listeriosis and kills 1 in 5 victims."

well... cook yer food to 165 degrees, use a thermometer and/or do microbial testing on anything you buy.. I guess..

"Listeria can be killed with proper cooking, but unless you're going to use a thermometer to make sure the foods reach 165 degrees F, it's best not to risk it. "

I'd say this ends the argument between a husband and wife friends of mine. Hubby (and daddy) keeps telling his kids not to eat veggies if they don't want to. Now they don't. Peace on the homefront.
