Seriously...., you can easily get a laptop modified to explode? WOW! Now, this is scary!

You can easily modify a role of toilet paper to explode.

But the point is, then all these things cannot get detected by x-rays at all. I remembered I was profiled at australian airport recently to be swiped for explosives. But they ONLY randomly profile people! Which is seriously stupid!! Shouldn't EVERYBODY be swiped for explosive if there are so many types of ways to smuggle explosive in without being detected by x-ray!

You're assuming the explosives are coming in the front door. It's ridiculously easy to bring them in the back. Security is mostly for show.

Security in most places is a joke.

Egyptian Aviation Minister Sherif Fathi said: "Let's not try to jump to the side that is trying to identify this as a technical failure - on the contrary.

"If you analyse the situation properly, the possibility of having a different action, or having a terror attack, is higher than the possibility of having a technical [fault]."

[BBC]

Not that I'm any aviation expert, but that 90 degree turn, followed by a 360 degree turn, plus dropping so much ... that does seem like a very, very big technical or pilot error.

That doesn't sound like pilot error.
Why would the pilot do that?
Something had to be wrong before the first turn.
This, of course, doesn't tell us if it was terrorism or not, the black box should help a lot.

Yes, that is what I meant. Too big a pilot error, or too weird a mechanical failure.

Pshaw! Not to worry. If it is terrorism the Trumpmeister will negotiate a hard bargain with the culprits or he will bomb the shit out of them and America will be Great again.

You forgot to mention that you know that it is Bushes fault.

Or that Hills was first on the scene, in fact I am pretty sure it was Hills who actually found the wreckage. She was quoted at the scene stating if this had been a rich white flight from Bloomfield, the republicans would have found this weeks ago.

Wow are we really pointing fingers already?

"Mechanical failure hasn't been ruled out either.
But considering the Airbus A320 has an exemplary safety record and is the most numerous of aircraft on the planet, it would imply that this would be unlikely. "

well now that we have established the aircraft's history lets take a look at the 15 worst airlines to fly,

No.7 worst airline,
From a pricepoint, Egypt Air is not a discount airline. But from a service perspective, it certainly seems like one. The list of complaints about Egypt Air’s planes is long and varied, from unkempt lavatories and dirty cabins to cramped seats and terrible food. Regular delays and disruptions are almost to be expected. Multiple passengers have been over-charged as much as four times for online bookings. Egypt Air had an incident in 2011 when the cockpit caught fire. None of this helps Egypt’s struggling tourism industry.

Now if they have this service record what do you think their service and mechanical upkeep of their aircraft would be?

now take into consideration that of the area's listed "Africa and Middle East" airlines with the most accidents and deaths by crashes take note witch airline is number one in the chart with the most accidents, hmm still thinking its a terrorist concept ?

Africa and the Middle East crashes by airline

Below are the number of plane crashes and other events by airline since 1970 that led to at least one passenger death. Each listed airline is currently active. The year of the airline's start of service is listed if it is later than 1970.

The table below lists the airline, the number of events with at least one passenger fatality since 1970, and the year of the most recent fatal event.
Africa and Middle East
Airline========FLE* Events Last
EgyptAir====== 6.68 8 2002 now this makes it 9 incidents
El Al=========0.01 1 1977
Emirates======0.00 0 -
Etihad Airways==0.00 0 -
Ethiopian Airlines 2.03 3 2010
flydubai======1.00 1 2016
Gulf Air======1.95 2 2000
Iran Air======4.20 5 2006
Kenya Airways==0.94 1 2000
Kuwait Airways==0.02 1 1988
Qatar Airways=== 0.00 0 -
Royal Air Maroc==1.71 2 1994
Royal Jordanian
Airlines=======2.72 3 1979
Saudi Arabian
Airlines=======2.01 4 2005
South African
Airways======1.00 1 1987
Tunis Air=====0.00 0 -

now as for the Airbus A320 model:
someone mentioned one of the safest models, well i think 13 accidents with a combined loss of life of and including this recent loss of life equals 1550 lost lives...

to add injury to insult lets look at fleet maintenance and charts on EgyptAir

Aircraft======== Number====== Age======== Rank for the age by aircraft type
Airbus A300======= 3=========-27.7 years=========== On 26 airlines operating this type of aircraft Egyptair ranks 15
Airbus A320========11========20.1 years=========== On 241 airlines operating this type of aircraft Egyptair ranks 208
Airbus A321========4========18.5 years============ On 93 airlines operating this type of aircraft Egyptair ranks 87
Airbus A330========11========8.5 years============ On 114 airlines operating this type of aircraft Egyptair ranks 68
Boeing 737========3======== 24.1 years=============On 240 airlines operating this type of aircraft Egyptair ranks 125
Boeing 737
Next Gen========20======== 6.3 years==============On 226 airlines operating this type of aircraft Egyptair ranks 67
Boeing 777=======7======== 7.2 years==============On 70 airlines operating this type of aircraft Egyptair ranks 36
TOTAL 59 12.2 years
The calculation of the fleet age can be approximated because it is only based on the supported aircraft currently in use

thats a big gamble on a 20+ year old aircraft and ranking a 208 and no this is not the A320neo air frame this is the MK1 air frame
to make this more apparent to you out there that are left scratching your heads by the above numbers and what it means
of the 59 aircraft in their fleet 1/5th of their fleet is flying MK1 A320's over 20 years of age totaling now 10 out of 11 with the recent loss keeping in mind that the age of EgyptAir has been in actual service all of 10.2 years this is not a good record since 2006

here is their current crash history enjoy
EGYPTAIR crash report

now of the recent air craft accidents in 2016, how many have heard of these

1. 2 February 2016; Daallo Airlines A321-100; SX-BHS; flight D3159; near Mogadishu, Somalia:

2. February 2016; Tara Air; DHC-6 Twin Otter 400Twin Otter; 9N-AHH; flight 193, Dana, Nepal:

3. 19 March 2016; flydubai 737-800; A6-FDN; flight FZ981; Rostov-on-Don, Russia:

4. 13 April 2016; Sunbird Aviation; BN-2T Islander; P2-SBC; Kiunga, Papua New Guinea:

"most recent"
5. 19 May 2016; EgyptAir A320-200; SU-GCC; flight MS804; en route Paris to Cairo:

now with above documented history of EgyptAir do you really think you can point the finger at terrorists? ok there is probably going to be some terrorist cell that will claim it as a win for their cell and maybe even the share holders of Egyptair will welcome that because it will take the burden off their shoulders, but IMO, add in the fact that they are still flying 20+Year old air frames, have the worst accident history in their service area, and the worst service record, i think it lends more to bad mechanics, service logs and more then likely pilot error for something that finally gave way in the aircraft

They SAY they only randomly profile people to keep the loony left from screaming about discrimination.

In truth, they rarely bother with happy looking Australians with broad accents since people rarely desire to shit in their own nest. They'll do some of those occasionally, but in general they'll focus on foreigners, especially if their body language is odd.

I was profiled together with a white Australian dude stranger. While I was totally co-operative, anyway, I like that they do these checks, the white Aussie dude was livid and rant off to the poor lady just doing her job! And it's funny that I passed the test, but something in his bag, kept her thingy beeping, so he was delayed.

any number of reasons could cause this to happen, aileron hydraulic loss, rudder malfunction , inclimate weather, a hiccup in auto-pilot, navigational beacons, loss of radar, loss of tail or controls, power outage and lets not forget shear winds, which is common in that area of the world, for example watch these Boeing training videos on cross wind landings to give you an idea of what pilot Trainees of Boeing go through before they are given the rank of PILOT

in the last plane vid notice how much rudder is used to keep it on the run way and it was bucking this pilot all the way down the runway
cross wind training

a few more to give you some thought
people often think that as big as they are that they do as they are instructed, keep in mind the peaceful serine vids you see on the tv aren't all they are cracked up to be for example

in this video watch the jet exhaust, the travel the wings move in vertical bouncehow the pilot needs to wrestle the plane to get it to fly straight,
Dangerous crosswinds and failed attempts at landings

now if you add in a poorly maintained aircraft and botched maintenance scheduling you get a very dangerous scenario

That is one where the remake's a lot better than the original. Probably the only chunk of the Twilight Zone movie that applies to, I suspect.

Makes sense. Probably broke/ate the wing off (which WOULD make the plane act like it did.)

I think that I have moved from the "bomb" camp to the "gremlin" camp.

I think that would fall under something was wrong before the first turn.
So either the window just popped out on it's own, or something punctured the hull/window, like maybe a bullet.

You could use a shot from the series as that episode was much better than the movie segment.
