Ahhhh, Trump said he will only debate if all proceeds go to charity and the networks refused to do the charity thingy.

So no more debate!! Sad! Sad!

And THAT is how you back out of a debate and make yourself look good doing so.
Say what you want about Trump, but that guy knows how to play the media. he is like the Jimi Hendrix of media manipulation.

But he clearly stated upfront that he will debate sanders IF proceeds goes to charity, so they will negotiate base on those terms.

SNORTS
ok

this from trumps own site
https://www.donaldjtrump.com/press-releases/donald-j.-trump-statement-on-debating-bernie-sanders

DONALD J. TRUMP STATEMENT ON DEBATING BERNIE SANDERS

quote:

Based on the fact that the Democratic nominating process is totally rigged and Crooked Hillary Clinton and Deborah Wasserman Schultz will not allow Bernie Sanders to win, and now that I am the presumptive Republican nominee, it seems inappropriate that I would debate the second place finisher. Likewise, the networks want to make a killing on these events and are not proving to be too generous to charitable causes, in this case, women’s health issues. Therefore, as much as I want to debate Bernie Sanders - and it would be an easy payday - I will wait to debate the first place finisher in the Democratic Party, probably Crooked Hillary Clinton, or whoever it may be.

Yea, but he clearly said he would consider doing it IF it was for Charity, before the negotiations started.

As this is gonna make CNN shitloads of money. And his not receiving a cent of it! If it doesn't go to some good cause, there is no point debating the second place finisher right?

That's his point. Makes perfect sense!

You missed the part about tech firm offering up the money????

A technology investment company says it will foot the $10 million bill for a potential debate between presidential candidates Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.

“Yesterday, Mr. Trump asked for a $10 [million] donation to charity in order to accept Mr. Sanders’s challenge to debate him,” Richie Hecker, chairman and CEO of Traction and Scale, said in a statement to BuzzFeed. "We are willing to offer that $10 [million] donation in return for the opportunity to host the debate.

You missed the point. By requiring all profits go to charity, he insures it will never happen, and looks good doing so. So he gets to agree to a debate he has no intention of doing and makes the media look like the the bad guys.

I wondering why the 10mil put out by the tech company is not pick out by major news media. Also, it sounded as IF the tech firm themselves wants to host the debate and not the TV network.
How will they get broadcast?
Is this tech firm just gonna donate 10mil to charity for CNN to host the debate?

The Trump/Sanders debate is a brilliant move by Sanders and Trump.

No it's not, and here is why: It completely screws Hillary over. It harms Clinton but will not alter the fact that she will be the Democratic nominee. And given that fact, it is not in Sanders' interest to damage her further, as he is now positioned to be a major influence on the Democratic party going forward, and he is far more likely to get more of his agenda accomplished under a Clinton presidency than under a trump one. What's more, if Clinton loses the general and he is seen as a major cause of that loss then Sanders will lose most, if not all, of his influence in the Democratic party and will go back to being the crazy independent/socialist guy from Vermont. By sabotaging Clinton, he is in fact sabotaging whatever chance he might have to accomplish the famed political revolution he is calling for.
In short, such a debate does nothing but hurt Sanders, but he seems to have started believing his own rhetoric about a path to the nomination.

Except Sanders isn't doing this to harm Clinton in the general election. He's still running for the nomination. So, it IS a brilliant move.

I wonder what Ross Perot's doing these days?
Ralph Nader has been strangely quiet this time as well...

Both are probably of the mindset that they are too old for this shit (an election campaign), though either might just be better than either of the presumptive candidates from the two main parties.

That's what I was thinking (your last point). If ever there's been an election cycle that favours a third party candidate...

That, however is the only effect it will have
quote:

He's still running for the nomination.

Which he knows (or should know) he is unlikely to get, so if he really cares about the political revolution he goes on about, he should be altering his strategy.
quote:

So, it IS a brilliant move.

Nope, just the opposite.
