I doubt we will be hearing much from feminists about this one.

If non muslim white men didn't do it, it didn't happen at all.

Gotta larf

MrRodgers -> RE: Pakistani Men Can Now “Lightly Beat” Their Wives Who Decline Sex or Refuse to Wear What Their Mates (5/30/2016 6:49:13 AM)

In most religions, husbands have been legally allowed to beat their wives for millennium.

Secular humanism has removed that from social and legal sanction in the Christian and Judaic world but not in the Muslim world.

Greta75 -> RE: Pakistani Men Can Now “Lightly Beat” Their Wives Who Decline Sex or Refuse to Wear What Their Mates (5/30/2016 6:51:55 AM)

Mr Rodgers, does the bible have instructions to their followers to specifically beat their wife?

In the Quran, Allah literally teaches men to beat their wives.

I think there lies the difference.

And this Pakistan rule is the moderate interpretation to that verse in the Quran. To "lightly tap" your wife when she is being disobedient. Lol!

Why don't you start with this politically correct equality bullshit now ?

the instances on your google search are overwhelmingly examples of abuse and are not representative of biblical discipline of children---nor for that matter, do they have anything to do with adult women being beaten by their husbands, which has never been an accepted part of Christianity or Judaism.

It's a non-binding proposal, that's all. And it's one which has caused an outcry from non-fundamentalists in Pakistan (as well as, of course, elsewhere).

Post from Huffpost world, Pakistani photographers and pakistani women saying what they think about the" suggestion" The link has all the pics to go with this text.

Pakistani photographer Fahhad Rajper says when he first heard about a proposed bill that would allow husbands to “lightly beat” their wives as discipline, it “gave me a disturbing feeling.”

The bill in question was part of a proposal by the Council of Islamic Ideology, a group that advises the Pakistani government on whether they think laws align with Islam. The council advised that husbands could “lightly” beat their wives for offenses like refusing sex, not dressing as her husband wishes or not bathing after sex or menstruation, the Washington Post reports.

But though the council purports to advise on Islamic teachings, plenty of Muslims — including Rajper — were incensed by their recommendation.

“Islam doesn’t preach [any] such thing, be it for a man or a woman,” he told The Huffington Post in an email. He said a “majority” of Pakistans do not approve of the bill, adding that “anyone who’s sane enough wouldn’t be okay with it.”

That’s why Rajper launched #TryBeatingMeLightly, a photo series showcasing Pakistani women’s reactions to the proposal. The captions of his black and white portraits were written by the subjects.

Except this beat lightly thingy is from the Quran, how can these Muslims lie that Islam does not promote such things?
Really hate it when Muslim blatantly lie about whats written in their text.
And then worst of all, they will claim the arabic translation to English is wrong. BUT all arabic countries are practicing the beating translation. Highly doubt it's wrong.

You notice one thing in Lucy's list? They are all Paki, no western feminists protesting against it because they don't want to hurt the feelings of poor muslims.

It would be interesting to see a complaint about it on western feminist websites like Jezebel.

I could be wrong. My whole point is that if it was non muslim white men demanding this, it would be huge news for feminists. There would be outrage everywhere. As it's muslims doing it, you may hear a little peep from feminists but nothing major. Just like the rapes in Cologne this year.

No, the non-fundamentalists aren't in the minority. This is Pakistan - it's not a theocracy. Sure, attitudes to women are not great there - but all mainly muslim countries are not the same.

Why do you keep regurgitating that line, RM? Western feminists, western lefties - whatever vague group you have in your head - are forever criticising attitudes to women in these countries.

Some may do, most totally don't. Feminists who are typically on the left are usually using words such as islamophobia, racism etc when muslims are criticised.

This is why in such instances like the rapes in Colongne, you hardly saw a peep from feminists in the western world. While if it happened to be white men, feminists would still be complaining over and over.

Feminists condone PC rape.

That's as far as the outrage will go.

The feminists in the west are too busy protesting against far bigger problems like manspreading and ban bossy. lolz.

Too bad - but of course you could learn

You know that there were three women on the staff of Charlie Hebdo at the time of that shooting last year, I trust?
Explain how that magazine's been turning a blind eye to the moslems.

Apparently, except for Hebrews 12;9 all instructions for beating up someone are in the Old Testament - so they are of no consequence nor relevance whatsoever for Christians.

Hebrews 12:9: "Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?"

The first sentence of this quote from Hebrews appears to refer back to the Old Testament, again: it is of no consequence nor relevance whatsoever for Christians.

The second sentence appears to be in opposition to the first sentence, implying that it is better to be subject to God than to the aforementioned earthly fathers.

Actually the quote does not say anything about beating one's wife.

In any case, anyone who needs to live by scripture clearly has no brains to think with of his own and is little more than an animal.
