I know the feeling but wonder id many diagnosis are actually made up to justify a next to useless yet dangerous medical specialities existence.

Over the last 27 years I have been diagnosed with many different so called disorders. Here they are in year of diagnosis order:

Paranoid personality disorder 27, Nightmare disorder 25, Schizoid personality disorder 23,
Antisocial personality disorder 21,Avoidant personality disorder 19,Alcoholic hallucinosis 18 (I do not drink any Alcohol I am a temperance fellow), Bipolar disorder 17, Borderline personality disorder 16, Amnestic disorder 15 (I do not have goddamn Amnesia).Shared psychotic disorder 12 (What the hell is that for christ's sake?), Persecutory delusion 11 (Now that is no illusion I am persecuted), Maladaptive Daydreaming 9 (What the fuck is that for heavens sake?),Communication disorder 7, (Another what the fuck again here?), Histrionic personality disorder 4, Grandiose delusions 2, (I swear that I am not Napoleon honest.) Nobody can have that many psychiatric disorders surely? They make new one's up every time I have a outpatient visit.

Psychology and psychiatry are very useful for diagnosis and treatment when completely applied. Many of the conditions you note are usually considered symptoms of larger condition. All of the conditions you mention are also subject to degrees. In other words, it's not a matter of having paranoid personality disorder or not having it. It's more like they're saying you have a certain percentage of that condition.

The thing that is working against you getting a authoritative diagnosis is the nature of outpatient visits. They only see you for an hour every week. I'm almost certain that you would get a more complete diagnosis with more intensive treatment.

I very much doubt it because, frankly, they are all nutcrackers themselves.

Try inpatient instead of outpatient. They'll get a more well rounded view of you and over a longer amount of time.

Additionally, some disorders are so rare that a psych hospital might only see one case every five years. It's hard to diagnose something you've never seen. Or from symptoms in a textbook.

More important is treatment. Do SSRIs help? What about anticonvulsants like Lamictal? Or atypical antipsychotics like Seroquel?

If so, than a diagnosis of Mood Disorder-NOS is sufficient. Treatment matters more.

Do you get upset and forget what exactly you said or did until you calmed down? If so, that's the amnesia but I would call it a fugue state.

There are three major (that are frequently seen together) and the rest are symptoms of the three majors.

I agree wth the others that you'd probably be better off by doing some inpatient which would give them a more consistent experience with you.

I'm also going to say that 1) you're taking words out of the diagnostic terms as literal layman terms, when the actual word use in medical terms isn't quite the same. 2) If you don't know what a diagnosis is, you should be asking for explanations. 3) This post comes across as combatitive rather than a desire to actually know what is going on...and that's on you. If you want to gain understanding or some forward movement, you need to be an active participant.

I'm not sure what you're seeking from us.

Help? Insight? Confirmation? Experience? Something else?

What's been the impetus for all your outpatient visits?

He's anti-psychiatry. He isn't actually seeking anything, he's just ranting. His OP is basically a copy of an off-topic post he made in another thread.

He's seeking an excuse to continue not addressing his problems. To claim it's all his mother's fault. Or his ex's.

If he really wanted to make changes, then he would push for inpatient and treatment.

It's okay, opie. Stay as sick as you are. Continue to have no friends, no partner, to be unable to get or hold a job. Of course, once your mother dies, whose basement will you live in?

I think it's a combination of both of these.

He's looking for someone to say it's all bullshit (to validate his anger), so that he can walk away from treatment and diagnosis.

Many of you Armchair Amateur Psychologists and Psychiatrists point the finger of false accusation. You know nothing and profess you know everything. He is not asking for any help but he is trying to highlight the many obviously contradictory if not false diagnosis he has received from the so called clinical experts. We only have his/her word for what is claimed though. He seems Compus Mentis enough to address his problems and has taken the trouble to highlight them. Frankly, that is far more than many but not all of you who are halfwits can achieve. This is by no means a blanket statement for you all. Some of you are sensible and intelligent people.

Realize that your idiotic analysis of his/her problems are all pretentious and I'll informed prejudice. Most of you are clowns and halfwits who engage in the pointless and anonmous act of online bullying and ridicule for your own childish and immature amusement.
