ORIGINAL: DesFIP There's no way to announce that an inability to spell means a person is of low intelligence. I've always considered an inability to spell being an indication of an inability to handle detail. Then you lack the concept to understand that not everyone's brain works the same as yours. My son, for instance, is highly intelligent, and can find the finest detail in most things. He now holds qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, something to do with building computers, and is a specialist Welder, however, he has learning difficulties that mean that originally mainstream school wanted to write him off as someone that would never cope with ordinary school. I myself suffer with ME/CFS, and chronic migraines. Together they create something called brain fog. I'm also an insomniac, and I've had all sorts of tests done. These included general IQ/cognitive tests to see how my brain was coping with everything. It's found that I'm exceptionally highly functioning because I've suffered with pain for most of my life, I fight hard to just get on with it, and I've generally been very fit. Even in my most sleep deprived states, and with a chronic migraine I can still score out at 148-152. However, imagine that your brain is like a huge library, you know where all your information is stored because you put it all there, well for me, sometimes it's like going in there and some git has rearranged all my stored information. It's not in its correct place anymore. Even worse, sometimes when I go to retrieve information someone switches the lights out on me too. So not only is it all in the wrong place, but I wouldn't be able to find it anyway. It may last minutes, it may last hours, but I'm sure you've had a moment where you couldn't remember someone's name, couldn't remember the title to a song/film? Now image it's words. I've been a breeder of horses, shown at top level, been a Judge myself, and a free lance artist. My whole life has been about attention to detail. You think that spelling is just down to a lack of detail? How wonderfully dismissive. needles
