"If you are more than 15 kilos (33 pounds) above the average weight for your height, we ask you refrain from making a reservation," a list of rules posted on the restaurant's website states, explaining that patrons could be weighed if they do not appear to be within the correct weight range.

Guests found to be "overweight" will be refused entry to the restaurant, which opens on July 29, and will not be entitled to a refund, its website points out. All payments must be made in advance on an online booking page. Tattooed customers are barred from entry.

Only in Japan or really, Asia.

Actually, the Japanese doing this believe that if they have a weight limit requirement, it will attract Japanese men and women who have a strong preference of slim people which is the majority of Japanese people. My point of this article is that we do not practice political correctness in Asia.

This is actually a good marketing tactic to assure diners who is obviously there for eye candy, that they will get eye candy.

But my personal eye candy isn't slim men.

@Greta, I wouldn't go so far as to say I prefer them overweight, and unnatural-looking [over]musculature isn't a turn on,

but the biggest turn off is a willow-wisp bony toothpick of a 98-lb weakling.

150-175lbs doesn't hit the mark either--any dude who can fit into skinny jeans is too lanky for my tastes.

Lol! Probably because Japan is a more conservative culture, and it would be harder to find women waitresses to serve nude. Unless they hunt for porn stars who are comfortable being nude.

But this restaurant has the complication of trying to be "classy". So I guess that's why only men.

And I doubt gay men has such strong weight preferences.

Unfortunately, where I live, there is a huge shortage of supply :( Most men are too slim for me my liking. Overweight men are super rare!

There's plenty of nude waitresses in Japan, hard as it may be to credit. Google Shinjuko or Kabukicho: that's one of the popular set ups in the "look but don't touch" clubs there.

Then it is strange why only nude men waiters. Guess they hope to attract more women clients or something.
But to be perfectly honest, as a woman, I feel more comfortable being served by nude women than nude men, even though I am perfectly straight.

BTW, I googled that, and it's disreputable red light district. Not classy. If these people are paying $750 per person just to dine there. They really need to posh it up.
