Yeah, you aint the only one. I think I spend more time reading profiles than I do composing snappy answers to various people's questions here in the discussion forum.
Once upon a time, I had multiple nicknames in circulation all at the same time, often with their own seperate Email addresses so that I didn't accidently mix correspondances. That was fun for a couple of years, then I got bored with it. The idea was to have different nicks for different moods or situations - one nick for gaming, one nick for occultism, one to hide behind when I was feeling trollish, another as a submissive, another as a dominant. Finally, one day, as I tried to find the little slip of paper that had my password and security information scribbled on it, I decided that this was too much work, closed out all of my profiles everywhere, and just started using my name.
I love the doms who try to sound deep and mysterious. "Come into my world and I will introduce you to fantasies like you have never dared to dream before..." (Yeah, right. I was in that deep before I hit puberty, sonny. Quite swimming in the gutter, you're blocking my snorkel)
I also enjoy the constant running thread of heterosexual men who seem to fall into the "wannamate" category - guys who don't really want a submissive, they just want a girlfriend who hasn't been overly influenced by the feminist movement. What's really fun is, to read their profiles, they seem to expect the girls to just come flocking to them. I wonder if they even realise how much competetion they're up against on this site?
Some folks have really thought-provoking ideas in their profiles or journals. I occasionally write letters just to respond to something they'd written. Alas, this will as rarely provoke a response as any other Email sent out. Apparantly, outside of the discussion forum, you have to have 44DD breasts to actually elicit correspondance with someone. Thankfully, the forums here are by far superior to any other I have yet encountered.
And then of course ther are the thousands drowning in a sea of their own bitterness and disappointment. Some times I try to send some note of encouragement to them, some times I just feel better about whatever it is in my life that has been bothering me lately. Some times, though not often, I simply mutter "Oh get over yourself".
I love rading profiles. It's almost as much fun as getting to know someone, but with a fraction of the required social interaction. Whee!
