so, i've talked to a few people lately who actually, truly do have amputation fantasies.
My question for today- should we allow these people into the military? How is that going to affect the outcome? WILL it affect the outcome?
Just random thoughts

I do not understand what fantasies have to do with being in the military..do these individuals fantasize about amputating others or themselves? A lot of people have rape fantasies, they are serving too, but would not actually do the fantasy in reality. Fantasy and obsession are two different things, only a sociopath would amputate another person's body part and use war as an excuse to do so.

I'd like to amputate some peoples tongues !!

I agree with Julia on this - i can't see the problem - most people can differentiate between fantasy and reality.

well one of the men is serving our country right now- wears the uniform and all- but He has this- yes, i guess i did phrase it wrong- obsession.

Is his obsession to have his own body parts taken or to remove another person's body parts? Does he objectify people in general? In other words does he seem like the kinda person that would look for an opportunity to nonconsensually perform an amputation? For the most part our people in uniform are altruistic even if they become somewhat jaded. They are good people, but there are some people that look at war as an opportunity to engage in some freaky and sick shit... criminal behavior. These types shouldn't be in the military.. it is like letting a child molester teach elementary school, because they seek out this job to do their weirdness, but it is hard to gauge who will actually act on their thoughts and who will not... and we cannot be thought police.

Surely your particular fetish has very little to do with who you are in "real life" I think ( and this is just my own dubious opinion,) that a person who has an amuptee fetish should see about meeteing .. ummm. an amputee? Maybe finding someone to particiapate in actual amputations would be pretty difficult to find.

Should we allow homosexuals in the military? Same thing. We don't allow them....well maybe we do at this point since we are allowing drug users in. I'm not up on today's code.
In any event when I was in the military we did not allow them in. Did it stop them from getting in? NO. I had 3 homosexuals in every unit I was stationed in..and 3 was the minimum. They just didn't disclose it to the world.
So, moving back to your question on amputee fetishe's. How would you know or would it be the same as the homosexuals?
Not like the military would be the place for someone with that sort of fetish anyway. Once you've lost it you're no longer military. Perhaps a VA hospital as a doctor or a nurse would serve the purpose a little better.
