If well managed, a confrontation of different values and beliefs can be very enriching, without requiring an eventual consent. Even when I disagree with a comment, I respect the viewpoint of its author.

i just got back from spending three days at the pacific ocean, water was freezing but had a great time.... see no flames

Personally, it's good to have disagreement and different points of view in a forum.

Imagine how boring this forum will be, if everybody just agrees with each other, saying the exact same thing in 10 or more different ways! Oh Gawd! That would be awful.

Different point of views keeps me coming back, because I like reading about why people think differently from me.
