Real0ne -> Skynet Terminator, coming to a theater near you soon! (6/28/2016 10:17:22 PM)

Skynet (Terminator)

This article is about the plot element within the Terminator franchise. For the British military satellite system, see Skynet (satellite). For other uses, see Skynet (disambiguation).

This article describes a work or element of fiction in a primarily in-universe style. (November 2008)
Skynet

Skynet is a fictional conscious, [or is it?] gestalt, artificial general intelligence (see also Superintelligence) system that features centrally in the Terminator franchise and serves as the franchise's main antagonist.

Rarely depicted visually in any of the Terminator media, Skynet gained self-awareness after it had spread into millions of computer servers all across the world; realizing the extent of its abilities, its creators tried to deactivate it. In the interest of self-preservation, Skynet concluded that all of humanity would attempt to destroy it and impede its capability in safeguarding the world. Its operations are almost exclusively performed by servers, mobile devices, drones, military satellites, war-machines, androids and cyborgs (usually a Terminator), and other computer systems. As a programming directive, Skynet's manifestation is that of an overarching, global, artificial intelligence hierarchy (AI takeover), which seeks to exterminate the human race in order to fulfill the mandates of its original coding.

Skynet made its first onscreen appearance on a monitor primarily portrayed by English actress Helena Bonham Carter and other cast members in the 2009 film Terminator Salvation.

FACT OR FICTION?

Now in the US the constitution BoR etc outlines the rights that we the people reserved unto ourselves, outside gubbblemint purview the gubblemint no trespass zone, now all we need is overlords that respect it. (see above link)

Umm, fiction dude. I know there are smart computers and networks that can repair themselves and update their programming, which is akin to learning. They could become self aware but the bottom line is if you cut the wires it is fucking over.

You might like to watch the episode "The Human Factor" in the 1995 series of Outer Limits. Not to be confused with the 1963 episode.

And why don't you spell shit right ? You are (very) slowly gaining credibility here but "gubblemant" is not helping you.

T^T

Oh, and you might want to study up on IBM's "Watson". I believe, not absolutely sure but pretty sure, that Watson stands as the greatest achievement in artificial intelligence to date. And that was years ago, it might be even more developed today. In fact it may have developed itself, as they interacted with it all the time. They ARE still working on it.

I don't know where they get the money for it because their business is not what it once was, but then just to pay a dozen or so IBM "fellows" probably isn't that much, less than ten million a year I would think.

T^T

Oh and Real1, YES drones stand as much chance as anything...in starting WWIII. However, [they] will not takeover.

I can honestly say that I haven't turned on a tv since FOX cancelled the Sarah Connor Chronicles. And I'm still pissed how they just abandoned the amazing storyline the show had, for the piece of shit that was Salvation.

I don't know wtf is goin on in this thread. But I've been holding that in for way too long.

The constitution has been all but completely shredded and we are well into the next generation of freedom with cameras being installed up everyones ass as an accepted way of life, and now those cameras have uplinks and guns. If peeps had even a small remote clue the greater ramifications we would not be seeing asshat responses in this thread.

mnottertail -> RE: Skynet Terminator, coming to a theater near you soon! (7/1/2016 9:08:20 AM)

What are the ramifications vis a vis Dolph Lundgren vs Arnold Schwartzenegger as cyborgs then?

Real0ne -> RE: Skynet Terminator, coming to a theater near you soon! (7/1/2016 9:55:55 AM)

There was a day when the gubblemint would have paid heavy trespass suits if they so much as stood outside your property with a pair of binocs, today its satellites and a camera on every corner.
instead, explain the difference between having cameras on every corner and one up your ass?

mnottertail -> RE: Skynet Terminator, coming to a theater near you soon! (7/1/2016 10:42:18 AM)

there was never such a day.

Real0ne -> RE: Skynet Terminator, coming to a theater near you soon! (7/1/2016 11:09:30 AM)

What is consciousness or intelligence? But, if we exist within the realms of predestination then none of the aforementioned two could possibly exist.

Well we cannot possibly be living 'within the realms of predestination' as the definition of predestination is an action or decree by 'god' so while we know consciousness and intelligence exists, we do not know that predestination exists.
