I'm not even female but I'll answer your question based on my experience.
Women, including Dommes, appreciate several things about men, but the first thing they'll encounter is his conversational ability. Sad to say, if you simply message a Domme and strike up a conversation about something vanilla from her profile or a post she made, you will be ahead of 90% of the men here.
If you send her a message that makes her think, "I'd like to talk with this man," you've done well.
Next is your profile. Reasonably chatty and cheerful, with a good vanilla description of you. Several pics of you - the ideal would be one in a tie, one doing some sort of sports, one playing a musical instrument, one at a dance, one playing with a dog, and one of you rescuing kittens from a burning building.
