TV in the bedroom puked a week ago....been trying to sleep through the night without the TV in the background (noise....I just need noise)....studies show that the blue light from the TV is what disrupts your sleep....noise apparently is ok.

I was gonna buy a new TV (still might....shit....new 60" TV's are like seven bucks now) but...been trying to sleep without the TV...it's been hit and miss....have a HUUUUGE TV in the living room about 90 feet away.....volume waaaaay up....been running that, no TV in the bedroom....having some cuuuraaaaazy dreams!

Last night someone dropped off 65 kittens (and they had worms and ear bugs)....the night before I ACTUALLY did yard work, cleaned my kitchen and did laundry (clearly a dream).

Who knows what awaits tonight :) Maybe tonight is the night Pamela stops by :) (I mean...the kitchen's clean, socks are put away........).

If you need noise then why not a radio or a tablet?
PRX remix has a huge offering of stuff.

Buy a white noise machine instead. Sleep to the relaxing sound of rain or waterfalls?

BTW: once upon a time I used the tv to fall asleep to.
At 3am the original Hawaii 5-O came on.
And usually at 3:05 some woman on the show would scream bloody murder and wake me up.

As a fellow insomniac, I would say just buy the new tv.

No offense to the other posters. The whole idea of the tv playing in the bedroom is to shut your brain off. That doesn't happen with white noise, waterfalls, and raindrops. The experts say tv is bad for you for sleep issues but if that's the path to a restful night's sleep, I say go for it.

Back during MP's last deployment to Korea, I used to put on Comedy Central. You know, back when it was actually funny.

At 4:00 AM, they used to spin those infomercials for 'Girls Gone Wild'. I can sleep through House, Law and Order, Rescue 911, and sixteen other kinds of crap. Idiots who can't seem to lift their shirt without screaming 'woohoo' when flashing their tits woke me up every, freaking, time.

I'll trade you my nightmares for yours.

If a 60" TV is all that will suffice, You may have to spend a sheckle or two.

If it's just a matter of noise, perhaps Mr. Marconi has the answer?

Insomnia? I have the cure for that....parenthood. You will learn the ability to fall asleep in a minute at the first sign of a chance. Staying asleep not so much though.

Oh also whatever your version of CPAC (C-Span in the US) is, those "debates" are boring as all fuck, they will put you to sleep even if you want to stay awake.

I use a fan for white noise...usually puts me to sleep unless I am having racing thoughts (then I use a relaxation technique to lure me to sleep).

Of course having sleep apnea does not help.

i need the noise to stop the mom gene kicking in and waking at every noise.
right now the ac in the bedroom window works, but usually its a fan, I overheat often at night so the fan does double duty.
When I get insomnia, i am on the computer...until i know i am droopy enough to sleep. I get someof my best work when im insomnia attacked.
I got a white noise machine but found that the repetition kept me awake. Maybe I need a better quality one..
Never could sleep with the tv on.

My only problem is....I'm on the West coast and I have East coast clients so....I HAVE to be at my desk no later than 4:30....which means up at 3:30.

It's a bitch.

Blue light.

(I know there's a link for it but...suffice it to say...it's on all TV's....tube and flat...and it fucks up your circadian....but if you put a towel on the TV....you can't click through/stop the insidious "39 UNBELIEVABLE knives for sale for only $129.00 plus shipping....why....you could sell just 4 of these knives for TWICE that alone!!!!" commercials that arrive at 1:00 a.m.).

I think that's essential for any woman.

(In fact....I think this may be cause for a new Constitutional amendment).
